Sports Injury

I injured my ankle in September 2011 playing football and its still not right. Probably my own fault because I only rested it for a week and went back training and playing while still limping.

I've been to my GP a few times and even had an xray but there is no bone damage.

Looking for advice on where I could get an MRI scan for a reasonable price. I rang a sports injury clinic the other day and was quoted €130 for a consultation and €430 for an MRI ! €560 with out any effort at repairing my ankle.

Any one any advice on where to go to get it looked at that wont cost too much ?

How did the injury happen? Was it in contact or did you just go over?

If it was the latter, there's probably something that "caused" it - an imbalance, poor training, poor mechanics etc etc.

If it's the former, it's probably bad luck.

In both scenarios the actual "injury" will probably be the same and a competent physio should be able to asses. In the case of it being a non-contact injury, a really good physio will be able to identify the deficiency that allowed the injury to happen and help you to fix it.

It was contact. I was goin in for a 50-50 ball and swung through it with full force, while the other player came through with studs showing above my ankle. As soon as my foot touched the ground after, I thought my leg/ankle was broke because it completely gave way on me.

It's the first bad injury I've ever had and I dnt know much about injuries but I know my body and with it feeling the way it does after 10 months, I think it will need more than physio.
