Putting maps on the SD card

    Hi all

I have a Garmin 255 and downloaded the latest 2013 update just to my computer as there wasnt enough space on the unit itself.

I can now go in and update bits and pieces using the Mapinstall software

In the meantime I found a micro sd card and stuck that into the unit. Problem is that this doesnt seem to be recognised as part of the sat nav memory (ie) my computer recognises it as a separate drive and when updating the maps using mapinstall it doesnt seem to recognise the extra memory

-Is there an easy way to get the extra memory to be recognised allowing me to put more maps on?
    - As an aside - assuming the maps were either all on the SD or split between the SD and the unit - does it make any difference when using the unit (ie) I presume I dont have to switch between each source while on the go?

    Cheers

Ok so figured out that you just select which source you want to put the maps on in the mapinstall dropdown
