i have recently got back into the gym to get back into shape and basically tone up. my daily gym regime consists mostly of cardio exercises which roughly last around 45 minutes. i then do around 20 - 30 minute weight training as in free weights and machine. i was thinking of taking protein for muscle repair after training and was wondering how many supplements should you take a day 1 or 2 ?

ive heard of people taking one in the morning time and then one after there gym session and i was wondering due to my gym regime would i only need to take 1 per day after my training ? the protein i have acquired is 100% whey gold standard

How is the rest of your diet?
worry about addressing that before thinking about if a protein shake
before or after your work-out will "tone" you up.

There's online calculators like that one. You'd need to up the protein intake like. Work out what you currently consume in food, then add more food (while counting calouries). Protein shakes are supplements only.

Paleo diets are all the go now. Google will help with that.

what people call "toning up" is increasing your muscle mass and lowering your body fat.

Id say stop doing all machine work, then do things like bench press, chin-ups, tricep dips, and your free weights. Some would suggest doing squats and stuff but I get bored doing that so I just do a kettlebell class which has a bit of everything for the legs. Spin too for cardio sometimes.

I take a protein shake after my work-out, but I also have chicken and veg for dinner most nights now instead of junk, which I'd say made the biggest difference to my appearance.
