There is not much maths in the conventional sense so no need to worry

on the brochure it said 'computer science is a mathematical subject involving logical understanding and reasoning'?? I'm not afraid of a bit of hard work, I'm ready to put in the hours and computer science seems like a really smart career option. But I looked at some of the MIT introduction to computer science videos on youtube, and it seemed to be very heavy on the calculus...even the undergrad in computer science in UCD requires you to take six 'math' modules...I'm just afraid of spending 15 months pouring over equations and formulas. On another note, how has everyone done in terms of careers through this masters? thanks!

Check out Coursera CS101 intro to CS. It is a less scary intro.

Also grab yourself a book on programming. Maybe "C programming in easy steps". A lot of the easy steps and dummies books give you a great intro.

I haven`t finished the course so don`t know about jobs yet. but it seems there is a few different routes you could go down afterwards..web development...server administration...programming.etc.. some of which are potentially more lucrative than others..

Thanks for the feedback! From an outsiders perspective I'm very interested in computer science. But I'd be more interested utilizing CS for a career in business, e.g. working in sales or marketing for a software company (Google for instance).

It seems to be listed on the UCD website for the 2015/2016 year now, and is accepting applications.

    Can't post the link.

    It runs for 16 months.
