Best Worst Movies

im looking for some movies that are "so bad, they're good" in the vein of Troll 2, the making of documentary i watched last night. I've seen some incredibly campy horror and action movies, that result in more laughter than any comedy that would be released today.

Mainly im looking for outrageously cheesy action movies that are so over the top with one liners etc- something like commando (which i love by the way).

    Any suggestions welcome, thanks

    Freddie Got Fingered. :pac:

Also beware of 'list' threads. They don't take kindly to those around these parts.

    Hatchet.

It's a film about one man and his love for his hatchet. But seriously its a "horror" film, its so camp and the plot is just outrageous, but you'll love it, in a weird way.

    There's also a Hatchet 2 but I haven't seen it yet.

    Frankenhooker and Brain Damage.

Amazingly "so bad they're good" movies.

its about bank robbers who are being chased by police and end up hiding in a mental hospital.

    Jason X.

It is just so hilarious, Jason is unfrozen aboard a spaceship in the future, machete mayhem ensues.

    Also Botched.

    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0790590/

Starts off as a regular heist movie....then descends in to complete and utter madness (and hilarity).

I believe Killer Clowns From Outer Space is crazy but I have to be honest, I haven't seen it and don't intend to.

For me, the best worst movies were Hobo with a Shotgun and Braindead.

I just noticed you wanted action movies so here's one. Pretty awful with David Soul in it!

I cannot believe I'm the first to mention The Room. Saw it for the first time on Wednesday and, my God, it was AMAZING-ly bad.

Folks can we get a bit of reasoning behind your choices please

    Best of the Best.

It has Eric Roberts over acting at his best. And the ending makes grown men cry.

I object to Frank Henenlotter films being classified in such a way! They are good
"trash" movies, certainly not bad in any way.

Aren't we forgetting 'Howard The Duck'?

    A B-movie with a major studio budget.

    Hollywood Homicide

Harrison Ford and Josh Hartnett in buddy cop shocker.

It's worth it for the ridiculously bad sex scene at least.

I'd love to see a theatrical cut of The Wicker Man again. The Happening is fairly amazing stuff as well.

Well I agree they are a work of pure genius, but c'mon. They do sort of fall in to this category!

Great suggestions lads, keep them coming.

As said, action movies. I'm sure there's some with Michael Dudikoff, JCVD and others.

I noticed on Netflix they have "Slumber Party Massacre" and some horror called April Fool's which I am sure are total classics

    One Man Army starring Dolph Lundgren is a sight to behold. The tagline gives you a sense of the tone of the movie;

"Willpower. Horsepower. Firepower. At 180 miles per hour" Genius.

    some good stuff here

Really enjoyed Battleship, cheesy lines, aliens and explosions, exactly what I look for on the big screen with movies like that.

    The Book That Wrote Itself.

It's an Irish film that "stars" George Clooney Kenneth Branagh, Melanie Griffith, Bryan Singer, and Chazz Palminteri (I won't tell you how).

It's so goddamn awful that I laughed when I saw it and it's struck a chord with me ever since. Lines like "fúck off yank" just had me rolling in laughter despite myself.

I think I caught it one late Friday on RTE2 in around 2003 and I always keep an eye out on the tv listings for it coming on again but it never does. Can't find it on download or buy it anywhere for a reasonable price so I may never see it again.

    ==

Another one worth a mention is the "Great Rock N Roll Swindle". A real mishmashed "mockumentary" about the Sex Pistols by Julien Temple framed in a sort of film noir Private Dick style.

enjoy ripping the piss out of it :)

Rubber, a movie about a killer tyre.

Came on to add this. Its actually a startlingly good movie! But still psychotic telekinetic tyre? Whats not to love!

Also someone mentioned the room... this should be top of you list. This scene is the pinnacle of acting in the movie :D

Oh and at one point they are in the living room chatting, they go outside to toss the ball around and they have all managed to change clothes, some of them are wearing Tux's! Then they go back inside and their clothes have changed again! One guy ended up leaving the movie, so they got another guy to act in the role instead, but he looked nothing like the original guy, loads of the "dialogue" was changed to fix this and it was incredibly confusing hilarious.

You don't mess with the Zohan!
Adam Sandler stars in it, he's basically a superhero in the army for palestine or something... but wants to pursue a career as a hair stylist...

Don't be a menace to south central, while drinking your juice in the hood
Takes the piss out of all the "black" films that have been made... Wayans brothers... good stuff

    Hot Rod
His step-dad gets sick, he wants to raise enough money by jumping stuff on his "hot rod" so his step-dad can recover, so he can finally beat the **** out of him...

Under Siege 2. Myself and my friends cheered at the ending, it really is that amazing. Segal at his best.

I don't think a film has stuck with me in quite the same way as King Frat has. It's a sub-par ripoff of the Animal House / Porky's type of gross-out comedy that was popular around 1980, but with the gross turned up to 11. Which is more than the number of years I had under my belt when I saw it - callow, impressionable youth that I was. It warped my tiny little mind for the better ...

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

more great suggestions there. keep them coming.

killer clowns from space is another one i spotted on netflix. huge amount of campy, generally crap (in a funny way) horrors.

i remember there was some action movie- called One Tough Bastard- it was truly ridiculous. but magnificent at the same time.

    Stryker.
It's a cheap Mad Max rip off that was filmed in the Philippines.
    www.imdb.com/title/tt0086381/
Even the tag line is cheesy; Their odds are a million to one...And Stryker's the one!
When it opened it ran in Adelphi 3 for about two months to really good crowds, laughing their asses off every night...

Fatal Deviation, it's an action movie, it's cheesy, it's so far on the bad scale that it actually crosses over to the sublime end of the good scale.

    Face/Off

Being a John Woo movie it's very predictable but at the same time a great plot. John Travolta and Nicolas Cage were brilliant. I think that psychopath roles suit Travolta really well. Cage playing a bad guy as well was a bit unusual.

Also The Snapper fits into this thread I reckon. ****e but brilliant at the same time, funny how people in this country go on about it as if its religion. Are yea alright Sharron ? :D

    Wet Hot American Summer

A fairly rubbish Caddyshack/Meatballs/American Pie rip-off set in a summer camp that is saved by amazing comedic supporting performance from Chris Meloni (Law and Order SVU, Oz etc).

Gone in 60 Seconds (the original version).

Hilariously poor acting and production values in this movie which can be explained away by the fact that any story is purely used as build up for one of the best car chases in cinema history imho.

A really good bad movie and then a really good good movie all in one.
