I've been a fan of the Portugal team for a good few years, looking forward to this! I'm hoping Nani can improve on recent games, he can be very frustrating to watch at times.

Ronaldo v Selassie and Pilar v Pereira should be fascinating, likewise the midfield battle.

Hopefully, Bento will let Portugal come out and play like in the last game.

Looking forward to this. Think Portugal will win comfortably enough by 2 goals with Ronaldo getting on the scoresheet.

I think maybe 2-1 to Portugal but they won't walk it. As mentioned above Portugal are defensively quite weak on the wings but definitel the better team, particularly with Rosicky not playing.

Also is mercurial not a commonly known word? Very disappointed in Darragh Maloney for having to ask Eamon Dunphy to explain it to him.

I think he meant what was Eamon's meaning of using it, not the actual definition of the word!

That was for a photo shoot a few years ago...don't be hatin' on Ronnie!

Perhaps, I hope you're right. Bill O'Herlihy can't keep the ship afloat on his own forever.

He's well known for re-applying his hair product at half-time. Many pro's have commented on it. So that joke is well deserved tbh. :)

Portugal to win comfortably tonight, with it being like the Russian match for the Czechs.

Ronaldo to build on his brace hopefully.

It's a well known fact that all the football greats re-apply hair product at half time to rejuvenate themselves, Ronaldo, Beckham, and.....em....

    .....what was the question?

    :pac:

    Go for it Ronnie!!

Time for the anthems, and Portugal kick off with "A Portuguesa", which wouldn't be out of place in a Church. How will the Czechs respond?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,688 ✭✭✭kerash

What was that weird 'Go for it Ronnie' all about?!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,061 ✭✭✭keith16

And the Czechs hit straight back with "Kde domov můj?", again very hymn like and these two proud catholic nations are neck and neck heading toward kick-off.

And on that basis I am going for 0-0 with this game to be settled on penalties.

    Dreadful atmosphere.

As good as he is, i reckon i'd end up decking Ronaldo at some stage if he was on my team!

Atmosphere's everywhere pale into nothing after the Irish fans' performances in the group stages.

Sure i wouldn't even have to make contact, he'd be rolling on the ground! I just don't know my own strength!

BBC saying the atmosphere is brilliant? Not coming through on tv!

Teams struggling to put 5 passes together it seems :(

    Terrible so far.

    Lovely ball. Close.

For a moment it lifted a bit when the Czechs did something decent, but since they mentioned it, it has gone dead again.

    5? More like 2 or 3.
Absolute crap technique for this level.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 704 ✭✭✭frisbeeface

Ronaldo's going to lose the head if things don't improve. Czechs did a good job winding him up from the corner there.

Supposedly there are only 5,000 Czechs there and hardly any Portugese. Crowd seems to be made up mostly of locals. No wonder the atmosphere is shít there.

Portugal to get a man sent off?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,191 ✭✭✭BKC

I thought yellow cards didn't carry over to the knockout stages?

The Yellow Cards will be wiped after the QF games.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,366 ✭✭✭✭Kylo Ren

Portugal will do well not to get one of the five players another yellow.

Wanted that to go in so bad!

Would have been doing well to head that, considering he was on his way back from goal.

Hate to see a player getting injured but Postiga going off could be a good thing for Portugal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,926 ✭✭✭✭Francie Barrett

Veloso has been horsesh!t, doesn't even look like he wants to be out there.

I don't know, this has the look of a 0-0 bore draw after extra time and penalties.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 704 ✭✭✭frisbeeface

Would have been goal of the tournament for me!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,591 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Crinklewood
