4x 500 ml cans for €1.99 in tesco today. Not too sure if it's a mistake or on offer but either way i just stocked up! It's a bit like Bishops Finger Ale from Lidl.

No mistake. That is the price online and not even highlighted as a special.

The can work out at €1/litre but they are selling the 500ml bottles at €2.53 i.e. €5/litre five times the price of the cans. There is a special offer on the bottles of 5 for a tenner.

It's a quite nice ale, though if you like larger and cider it might not be your thing

Love a good ale, havent tried this one yet. OP what branch were they in, don't think the cans are stocked as standard in all tescos, not showing up online for my local branch anyway.

    Thanks OP.

Are they actually marked 1.99 for 4, or is it 1.99 each, but they are scanning at 1.99 for 4?

Paid €23.88 for 48. Cans in Killarney today went to check out they saw the price said there must be a mistake so off she went and came back and said no mistake it's 4 cans for €1.99 as advertised. Haven't tasted them yet mind.

must try later. the arguing point is the €1/L which means that it is only 50c per can

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,220 ✭✭✭cojomo2

rang a few branches, most only stock the bottles. Stillorgan(Dublin) have the cans, I asked if they were on special and was told that they are 1.99 a can, but that they had been on special up until yesterday :(

Same thing happened to me last week in the Celbridge branch - got 8 cans for €3.98 ... went back a few days later and they had corrected the shelf label to €1.99 per can.....

Rang tesco dun laoghaire yesterday morning, asked a manager did they have any london pride in cans, she called me back 10 mins later saying no, that they were very hard to get but she offered to put aside/order as many bottles(full price of course) as I wanted...

After reading that another poster here got them, went there this morning and low and behold there was plenty...

Marked at 1.99/4pack, however when I went to pay was told they were 1.99 each... showed them the sign and got them at the advertised price:D

I ordered the londons pride online, managed to order 12 of 4 packs, got charged the 23 euro, and I kept a screen shot of the €1/L just in case! Will be delivered tonight...... Anyone know what happens when delivery man turns up with the wrong quantity??

    P.S. tanglefoot is also online

Not in cans for me!. I think what's available on-line to you depends on stock at whichever your local Tesco that delivers is.

yep - i took 2 slabs - must of been another 10 slabs at least on display last night.

note: they need to scan them as 4 packs - if the cashier scans them as cans individually they go through at €1.99 each.

can confirm delivery of my 48 cans tonight, delivery man didn't seem to give 2 hoots and thought there was a mad party going on! He was more curious as to why I got stuff delivered from a tesco 20 miles away when we have one in town here!

When I log in online, it only shows what's available in my local store, how did you manage to order from a store 20 miles away!?

because my local store doesn't do deliveries so they come from Wilton instead.
Oh, and guiness is 24 for 24 in my local tesco tonight

Tried the London ale, but disappointed..nice but the taste is too mild. Much rather the tangle foot but seems to be hard to find a branch that stocks it in the can :-(

none of either in Greystones - disappointing, I want my improbably cheap ale...

Never seen the Tangle Foot. I took up one crate to start with just to see. She says so you have 6, I said no 24. She says its 6x4, you would not want me to charge you for 24 individual cans :D I said cool, I'll take another 6 then

    Top 5 Canned Microbrews
Lose the bottle opener: These microbrews are easy to drink and open.
    By Stephen Beaumont

Canned beers have come a long way in the last half-decade or so, with many award-winning microbreweries now proudly packaging their brew in aluminum. And while the jury is still out on whether or not cans are truly more environmentally friendly than bottles, there's no denying that the two containers play on equal ground in terms of flavor.

    Fuller's London Pride

(England; $7.99 per four-pack of 16.9 oz. cans)
You might not expect to find one of the most awarded and acclaimed ales in the U.K. in a can, but voilà! This is a classic "best bitter," a brew style completely unlike pale ale, porter, or stout. It is dry rather than aggressively bitter, lightly fruity, and, to borrow a British phrase, immensely quaffable. With more than a century and a half of experience behind it, the Fuller's brewery is the last remaining family brewery in London.

    Snack Pairing:
Potato Gratin with White Cheddar Cheese
The dry but lightly fruity flavors of the beer complement aged white Cheddar, that famed British cheese. Try it in this potato recipe.Fish and Chips

    Entrée Pairing:
The pairing with deep-fried fare is a natural, since the bitterness of the beer will strip the greasiness of the dish from the palate.

I got some in the Crescent in Limerick last night.
Someone I know working there told me they have plenty in stock.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,680 ✭✭✭✭TheDriver

got some in Wilton this afternoon, tried to get 66 euro out of me until I explained, manager came over and said that yes, its 4 cans for 1.99, admitted it may be a mistake but thats what the shelf says! Lady says fair enough and wished me luck with my handy spotting. There was about 1 slab of london pride left, only few cans of tanglefoot after I had finished.
They did seem to know that 2 types were 4 cans for 1.99 whereas ruddle county was 1.99 per can!

The London Pride cans are in French, so probably an over order for there and they cannot be sold in the UK:)

i was wondering why there is so much french and canada info on them. having said that, its still cheaper then buying dutch gold or carling!
Getting tipsy for 2 euro is great.

Big refits going on at some tescos and staff are being brought in from other stores to help with refits so keep an eye out as there may be a lot more bargains for the next week or two due to staff being loaned out and items shuffled around.
