Sore joints

Hi I've taken up jogging about a month ago and do it everyday, only recently have I noticed my joints in my knees becoming sore.
Now I know fish oils are good for this, but I detest fish and hate taking any supplements or the like (to the extent that I've never had a single tablet, even headache ones, in my life) So my question is this, is there another food or thing I can do to help my joints? Thanks.

Its a myth that fish oil is good for joints. It has been proven to be good for your heart however.

You need to give your body rest days. Running every day with no breaks will lead to over use injuries. Go see a physio and while your there get some basic advice on running. You should also read up on various programs such as couch to 5k.

When starting run 3 days a week at most (taking a day off in between), later you can add 4th day, for example: Mon, Wed, Fri, Sat. For now take some break (week or more). See a physio if you still have problems. Then find some training plan and follow it.

I`m in the same boat but tried Animal Flex Pak`s and they`re great, around 30 bucks on www.perfectbody.ie. They`re really effective and I`ve no clicking and joint pain is totally gone.

Fish oil is food not a supplement. Take the liquid version if you don't like tablets. You could eat a whole load of fish to get the same effect. Effectiveness as a medication I don't know, I just use it as part of my daily fats intake.

Would the anti inflammatory properties of fish oils not be beneficial in this instance? Or is that what you're referring to as a myth? Not trying to be smart but if you have a source can you link it as I'd like to have a read of it? :)

    From Medline.

    http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/natural/993.html

Joint pain is normally classified as a cartilage issue and cartilage doesn't have a blood supply so it cannot become inflamed in the true sense. Its the same principle as achilles tendinitis now being called a tendonopathy as it referrers to swelling that isn't there.

If the op where to have "joint pain" from a rheumatic condition it may have an affect but that hopefully is not what is going on here.

Take a few days off. When you feel rested get backing to jogging, but every 2nd day . See how that goes.

I agree with the guys above, shorten the duration and the frequency of the runs until things settle.
You didnt say what surface you are running on but maybe stick on grass for portions or all of the runs for a time.
If you are carrying any extra weight may not be helping your cause either!!
