Could any recommend a gym in the Stillorgan/Blackrock area?

Swimming pool would be handy but not essential.

    Anywhere within 15mins drive really.

And would be willing to pay €50 per month.

Thanks in advance. Have googled it but there doesn't seem to be a great selection.

    Cheers..

Have you used any of them, and if so, which one would you recommend?

You should try each out to see which one feels right to you. Any club will give you at least one free day pass and sometimes more.

^^Ben Dunne doesn't do free passes. I'm sure Ironside does though.

Well avoid him so. What's he got to hide by not letting people try his clubs before handing over money?!

I'm a member of Ben Dunne Sandyford and find it an excellent gym.
Very clean, plenty of machines & free weights, and staff are friendly enough. Busy between 5-7 like any other gym.
Didn't realise that they dont do free passes, but I've seen plenty of people been shown around by staff.

At €210 per year it's great value

The recommendation really depends on what you're hoping to achieve...

You'd be absolutely insane not to consider Body Health and Fitness tho - http://www.bhaf.ie/

I popped into Ben Dunne Gym at the Beacon this afternoon about 4pm and the place was buzzing - The fella at the desk answered all my questions and gave me a quick look around. I was fairly impressed with the facilities on offer and that all the classes are free ( if you can get into them no doubt!) Cost at the moment is €210 for the year + you get 3 months extra free! I'd love to see what it would be like at peak time - I had forgotten about BHAF - I might have to give some consideration to that one - Does anyone know if it is still a pay as you go gym ( it used to be €8 PAYG) or €29 per month ( I meant to ask if that's a contracted €29 for the year?? as that doesn't suit me as I'm away all of June and July ) Any words of advice folks??

Hmmm, that's odd... really thought it was on the site. Go in and talk to Rob, he'll answer your Qs pretty quick. And is an exceedingly decent bloke too!!

I've been going to BHAF since April and I love it. It suits me and what I want and Rob has really pushed me (I can now deadlift >100kg!).

It's €8 PAYG or €29 month-to-month, no contract or direct debit needed. I just pay 2 months at a time. It's usually nicely busy when I'm there (8pm weekdays and 12ish on Sat) but no problem getting time on what you want.

I'll second..er third BHAF! I had been there a few times payg last year and recently joined up paying month by month. They've made some improvements to the gyma nd bought a bunch of kettlebells and strong man kit as well.

All the lads working there are dead on, don't find it too busy in the evenings either!

Another +1 for BHAF, started there a couple of months back, its great value and is no frills without being basic. Never any issues getting on equipment, lads there are sound, other members are all working hard. Do a bit of PT there too and its all good common sense stuff without any hard sell of pills, potions or powders. 30 quid a month, no contract no guff, you go, workout and leave.

Only issue is that I think their scales needs calibration...seems off a few kilos ;)

Cheers for the answers folks - I think I'll give BHAF a go! At €29 you can't really lose and I'm not into fancy cardio machines and mirrors!:p
