what are you all studying? i haven't opened a book since last month when we finished but will start on Thursday, im doing q1 but not looking at a manufacturing a/c, im then gonna look over farm a/cs, cash flows, service firms etc, but im praying for a handy budget question in q9.....if a manufacturing for q1 comes up im fooooooooked

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 445 ✭✭imelle

Q1s - studying all them: company, sole trader, manufacturing and departmental
    hopefully ratios will be Q5
    then gonna do budgeting
and incomplete records, cash flows, published and suspense. do ya think i'll be ok?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26 Reprazent

This is gonna be a disaster for myself.. I would love to see a 100m farm and suspense!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,671 ✭✭✭GarIT

What are departmental accounts? We never did them.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,479 ✭✭✭ChemHickey

I'm worried when the exams are going this bad that the predictions won't be useful this year. all those doing q1 be aware.

I'm not doing q1, never did it in school so I'm stuck with 60markers.

dont worry, they only ever came up twice and it was in ordinary level....which im doing :D

Ordinary level is pretty much junior cert business, the accounting bits :)

A1 guaranteed....pity i was lazy and began doing higher at the start of the year -.- ....everyone in my class will get A's and B's

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7 Yeovil247

Them bastards better not put up a manufacturing acc. They never have repeated Q1 but I'm worried that this year could the year they do

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 134 ✭✭Spattersonox

I'm worried that they'll put 100marker farm. I HATE THEM

If I were the SEC, and I were trying to be sneaky, I would take the ratios off ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 94 ✭✭robbiep94

    Revaluation 60marker
    Cash flow 60 marker
    Farm 100 marker
    Incomplete 100 marker
    Budgeting-the production one 80 marker

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,671 ✭✭✭GarIT

I'm not putting all my heads in one oven and I'm gonna do more than just study Plath Accounts, and Suspense Heaney.

Ya, It'd be good if they did. I know people only studying company ratios suspense and costing. It'd ruin people who cut the curriculum.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 220 ✭✭smithy77

Argh im only learning ratios out of section 2 they better have it there:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 146 ✭✭lauz94

Any people out there doing the 60 markers? Would also love if ratios weren't on the paper, hoping for two nice 100 markers so I can avoid ratios at all costs..that q.destroyed me in the mocks..

    q1 better be company!
    Suspense and farm/incomplete records
then whatever comes up in q9 hopefully flexible!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,905 ✭✭✭Chavways

Hopefully revaluation and maybe tabular as 60 markers and cash flow and published or farm/club/service as the 100 markers.I haven't a hope of doing suspense so it better not come up.

A nice cash budget would be great. It'll probably be a production+cash mix.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 127 ✭✭Princessxx

If i got an incomplete i think I would cry with happiness about the only question on the whole paper I can do well :o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 52 ✭✭boom boom boom

if a farm, tubular, or incomplete came up with a nice sole trader and q9, id get up and helicopter like a boss !!! then sit back down to get my a

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 445 ✭✭imelle

perfect paper would be Q1 Company Q6/7 Incomplete & Cash flows and Q9 Production or Flexible Budgets.

Wouldn't mind anything except service firm, don't like it at all! And ratios are a pain so two doable m 100 markers would be great. Published/incomplete would be a godsend! And then reval and/or cash-flow as 60 markers and a nice budgeting question. I'd be happy out. :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 134 ✭✭Spattersonox

I hate ratios too. I want suspense and Service 100m! :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 127 ✭✭Duffman K

Ratios will not be taken off the course ! this I promise.

Im hoping for a company Q1, a nice(ish) Q5, Absorption Q8 and it doesnt matter about the other question because I wont be able to do it

    As I've said before...

    depreciation/cash flow = 60markers
    suspense/published. = 100markers
    Flexible budget. = 80 marker

    Epic paper <3

<3 I'd LOVE this paper!! <3 I actually don't mind suspense, I like them! Except for the narrations, I am never confident with mine! But I wouldn't mind this paper, though I'd prefer a cash budget and I highly doubt flexi will come on it's own.

Suspense is my favourite question! They could put up flexible with piles of theory! You just need to write random stuff for the narrations. anything would do.

Ya! I just hope they don't have weird workings for suspense to catch us out. :P
Ya that's what I always do, my teacher said the narrations are normally not more than a mark or two anyway so write whatever you can.

Yuck theory :p takes so much effort but I'm feeling confident about accounting- the one subject I've been practicing for all year round and got an A in the pres too! Big improvement from last year's B3. I hope it's a nice paper. :)

    Ya? congratulations with the results!

I'm hoping for an a1 too! I hope the suspense questions are similar to the ones in the papers, not like the EC mock one with the sales returns debtors suspense instead of purchase returns creditors suspense one.

Ya same! They're so repetitive in the papers that if you know them well, suspense should become really easy for ya! I didn't do the EC mock, my school makes their own ones but my teacher did something similar, nearly got caught out on that! Hopefully it'll be nice easy question. (:

why do a lot of people think that a farm account is coming up as a 100 marker. My class haven't even done it!

    I hope its:
    Q1) Company
Q5) Ratios (performance, state of affairs, prospects)
    Q6)Q7) Published/Suspense
    Q9) Production

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24 Defygravity

Could departmental come up as a Q1?!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 83 ✭✭emmamurphy233

I think q9 could be divided into an A and B part, with flexible as one part and cash/production as another part.

They're trying to make questions less predictable so I'd say accounting will be tough. They'll probably give loads of weird workings that haven't come up before or something. Bloody SEC. :/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 75 ✭✭brownstone

Didnt do Q1 or Q5 so I'm stuck with what comes up... As long as marginal and incomplete aren't there, be grand!

    Hi all,

For the section 2 what would you recommend studying? I'm thinking ratios, service firm and incomplete records? I never did suspense in school so I can't do that question. Any help would be much appreciated as I'd like to get a D1-D2 in this subject:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21 ACBBFG

I think published is quite likely as its pattern is two years on one year off and it was on in 2011 but not 2010

Published and cash flow could also come up there. :)
