I was in the supplement store in the moore st shopping center but I can't tell the difference between the different supplements.

I want to gain 15-20lbs over the summer. I'm going to the gym but while gaining defination and strength I am not gaining size as I'm quite skinny and don't follow the eat big to get big guideline just yet.

I'm looking to add supplements to get to my ideal weight/muscle combination a bit sooner.

Can you give me some guidelines on which/all of these supplements to take?

    Mass Gainer - 1,600 kcals/100g.

    Whey Protein

Creatine. One of these mentioned they were PH12 so unlike other creatine all of it got to the muscle (more expensive than other creatine products there).

    All pointers appreciated.

This was the vitamin shoppe you were in?

A weight gainer is a good option and a mix of protein and carbs - try to get one with about 30% protein and ideally one that does not have too much sugar in there.

The gainers would not have 1600kcals per 100g more likely 400 or so.

You could add a whey protein as well if feeling flush and finally a tub of creatine is fine and realtively cheap.

The other option is buy the whey and carbs separately and tailor the shakes to your requirements.

    Best of luck.

I have decided to go with Trec Nutrition XXL Mass Gainer and I'm going to combine this with a good quality creatine supplement if someone can recommend a good one. Thanks.

Any monohydrate will do. There are about 5 different types of creatine but monohydrate is affordable and readily available.

    5g per day.

This is the biggest fail with all newbies, diet!
Spend your money on food man, not supplements.

Creatine is Creatine. Doesn't matter how incredible the brand or sales assistant claims it is, it will still provide the same result. Go for any Creatine Monohydrate product.

    Why not?
That's the obviously problem with your diet. Supplements are basically food.
    Mass Gainer - 1,600 kcals/100g.
It might be 1600 per serving, but its not 1600 cals per 100g.
100g sugar is 400 cals. 100g of fat is 900cals for reference.

Supplements won't give you a head start or a quick fix. There is no quick fix.

There is no headstart for losing weight. There's "fat burners" which in reality do fúck all generally other than make you piss a lot. When it comes to fat loss the only effective steps are a correct diet, a good workout plan and high levels of self-discipline. Protein supplements will benefit you in that it minimizes your fat intake from meat sources. Again though these are supplements, they're designed to be used in conjunction with a sound diet, not replace one.

If it really gets to you, you should use that as motivation to fix your diet and work out a bit. Hoping for a quick fix won't bring one into existence, unfortunately. We'd all be ripped if there were quick fix supps.

Honestly, I've been there. It's a slow process for your weight to creep up like that, ans unfortunately its a slow process to shift it.

The reason it happen was because your diet is muck. A healthy diet doesn't have to be all salad and boring food. You probably need to get better at cooking, you can save 200 cals per meal easily be making the right choices compared to something from a jar or packet. If you work a lot bring food to work. Make extra for dinner and have it for lunch.

i know its not a supplement...but if its gaining your after.....when im building i cant get enough of the following shake

2 big big spoons of peanut butter
    100g raw porridge
1 pint of raw milk...as in the from cow to bottle with nothing inbetween type!!

I could drink that shake all day its well cheap to put together, 4 of them a day with the rest of your food and id say job done.

But just so ya know i used to be a supplement whore:p, id take anything in a bring coloured container with a picture of lean muscle on it!! its taken me a lot of cash and bright pee to get to my less is more attitude, i would save you that expense;)
