    A pit dug in a hole and filled with water. Stones were heated and put in the pit to bring the water to boil and then used to cook food. Used in Ancient Ireland.

    Biscuits called hard tack. :) They didn't eat much fruit or veg while on voyages, so scurvy was common. :D

    I actually think it was Portugal, not Spain. Columbus was Spain.

    On the Night of Broken Glass (Kristallnacht) The Germans attacked the Jews. They killed 90 Jews and took thousands to concentration camps. Jewish shops and synagogues were burned.

    History is the only exam I'm looking forward to!

    Think that was Robert Owen actually. :p Robert Peel was the British Prime Minister during the Famine, he imported maize from India to Ireland as aid and it was very hard and difficult to digest, earning it the nickname 'Peel's Brimstone'. The more you know...
