I keep getting the feeling that I'm going to end up like what happened in my listening mocks and miss most of the answers.Hopefully the essay won't be hard because it's what I'm best at in Irish. So long as I understand what wants me to write about anyway.

I'm guessing Modh Coinniolach will be on in the Trialacha Teanga section.

Justin Bieber came up on the mocks... I call shenanigans.

what were the other essay and debate titles, also what was the topic of the other comprehensions

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,034 ✭✭✭dalta5billion

Other than that, what a lovely Paper 1. Paper 2 will be rock hard I guess.

The grammar section appeared revised, with clearer instructions + identifying where tiosal ginodach was used.

    For Q4. = ALT 4
For Q5. = ALT 2 (may have been alt 3)

I'm pretty sure q4 is right, though

I used the first story option thing. It was like, " "Is bullaíocht í. Déanfaidh mé rud faoi seo anois.." arsa m'athair liom."
And I said they were on their way to the school to talk to the principal, when go tobann, they were in a car accident. Timpiste! XD

Was the answer by any chance "ti?" I thought the Q meant, Ainsigh an ainmfocail" is that "name the name word sa tiosal ginodach"? I thought that question was very unclear.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 81 ✭✭ButtonBox

Yep! Easy and you can nearly always use it. :P

Now to cram for Paper two.. Yay poetry..
What do ye all have studied?

I thought it was grand! Had great fun with the essay! First disco=> friends drinking => falls and hits her head => TIMPISTE! :D
Listening was grand , questions a bit vague though why were they congratulatin him? I said because he won and they were proud :/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 153 ✭✭DaleHyland

Ode to Joy! I feel like I got 10/10 on that section, beaming! That makes me very happy. Is 2.5 A4's extreme overkill for the debate. I discussed results, drinking, the lack of sport and unhealthy eating due to all the free time during the summer.

Went home for study. It's raining so everyone will be in school so there'd be no peace and quiet. :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 81 ✭✭ButtonBox

Ah cool, you've got every theme possible there so. ;D
    I have An Ghaoth
    Le Linn ár nÓige
    An t-Adh
    Eachtraí Samhradh
and we've a good few others but I'm focusing on them because I lost the notes to the others. :(

We were told to take a walk , we all have to go home or not be in school in between exams, I'm surprised your school will supervise.

I am very worried for my daughter the only poem tye have done is An T-Ozan her teachers have told them it covers everything??????

Surely this cant be right is it??? worried mother here:)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51 ✭✭2creator

Anyone else do the debate? I did it and I defined the motion as people saying that summer was too long and therefore boring.

I then talked about the benefits of summer and all the exciting and interesting things to do. Will this mean that I did it wrong and will lose marks?

As I'm sitting the exam later on too, I can say I learned two poems, Faoiseamh a Ghobhadsa and An T-Ozon, it might not cover everything, but there is a very good chance a topic that will apply to Ozon will come up.

Did you state you disagree with it? A debate is one-sided, did you say you were for the motion or against. If you said for, you may be wrong, against, you'll be fine.

Listening was much easier than I had anticipated but still quite tough.

Compression was quite easy. What is with the Beiber obsession that the Irish exam has?! Mocks, then this?

I feel I did quite poor in the grammar section. What was the answer for B, 6?

The essay was okay. A page an a half. I avoided going to a hospital!

Overall, it was an okay paper. My poor spelling and grammar let me down, but I knew that would happen anyway.

    Now for Paper Two... Gulp.

    LISTENING = IMPOSSIBLE

I'm gonna have to make up the marks on Paper 2.
    Please wish me luck! :(:(:(

what was the other debate option

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,301 ✭✭✭The One Who Knocks

Here's the links for Irish Paper 1 & 2, but they aren't up yet (obviously)

    Paper 1
    http://www.examinations.ie/archive/exampapers/2012/JC001ALP100IV.pdf

    Paper 2
    http://www.examinations.ie/archive/exampapers/2012/JC001ALP200IV.pdf

Sometimes they go up before they're properly indexed, so if you don't see them up later, try these links again,

    ;)

I will give up then and there if we're asked about the techniques used in a studied poem... :L

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,034 ✭✭✭dalta5billion

I'm worried that on Paper 2 that they'll get up to some tricks, like where you have to do "a poem with a theme like the one on this paper", which I think happened with the fiction on 2010.

It sort of did but there was still the option to pick a theme.

But anyone who did Dunmharu ar an Dart had to do the "theme similar to the extract" as the only theme suitable on the list was Taistil which isn't really a main theme of D ar D.

Well then if none of your themes come up you're going to have to compare and contrast.

    uhm listening went BEEEEEEEP
    lol sooo bad
I think verbs were okay grammer bad
    eachtra went oki dokey
and uhm yeah I had that written in about 25 minutes so I had lots of time for the comprehensions!! (I did the eachtra first)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 81 ✭✭ButtonBox

I think there's nearly always an option where you get to pick what theme you write on. I think.

Anyways, I'm off! Good luck everyone, stay calm, you'll be grand. :D:)

Let's just hope bieber fever or the listening are the only antics they get up to.

What the f:eek:ck am i doing on boards i need to learn my poetry!?!?!?!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 621 ✭✭✭if832uspx4eogt

Listening - Impossible! :( Even the first two questions about the people were hard. The Piosa Nuacta/Fógra about the boy winning first prize was fair hard.

Comprehensions - I just had to laugh when Justin Bieber came up again. I'd say the SEC were fair mad when they saw that the Mocks company had done a Justin Bieber one also :p I also knew his story, so it was pretty easy.

The Radio Ri-Ro one harder, but not impossible. I've definitely done harder comprehensions, I think we got two easy ones this year.

Grammar went awful. I just put "fidh" in front of every verb :D Part B was easier although I didn't get the last one.

Eachtra was grand :D so happy a timpiste at the disco came up  in my one, my friend smuggled in Alcahol, got drunk and fainted outside the disco. In the end the school found out and we had to clean the tables for the whole summer :p

I'd say I got 75% in it, it went grand. Paper 2  The Unseen Poetry is always my worst section. I only have one poem and one story learned, so if An T-Adh or An Luichin Sa Scoil comes up I'm gonna FAIL ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 130 ✭✭nickys

Oh no my daughter found it really very hard...especially the unseen....
She said she didnt even understand what the ursceail was but just wrote what she had learned

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3 liadhan1

what themes came up for the prós and filíocht, what poems came up in the unseen, what were the letter topics

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51 ✭✭2creator

What a lovely paper. For once I understood the unseen fiction and was able to answer questions on the unseen poetry. The themes fit my poem and story perfectly. And the letter was grand.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,055 ✭✭✭Pen Rua

Paper Two was hard enough. The pros was difficult to get around. I guessed half of it. The Studied was okay, though. I studied Dunmharu so mentioned Billy Brean, Niall wanting to be vice-principal and how he hated life in the school.

Poetry was really tough. I found B extremely hard. Studied was grand. Imirce did grand. (Michael will be lonely is London, his parents will be lonely without anymore, his sister is lonely in Manchester).

The letter! I was deeeeeeeeelighted! Music! I think I got near full marks. I lost some on grammar etc. I was so happy when I read "albam".

Quite a good paper; personally, I found it a bit hard but that was me.
