Pro Maxi Diet - MaxiMuscle -Anyone tried it or have more knowledge about it

I have just started taking pro maxi diet (whey protein) this morning and am kind of wondering what exactly am I doing.

First of all I am not out to loose weight as such -maybe a little. I'm petite 4"11 and weight about 48kg - 50kg
I try and train 3 - 4 times a week, 2 hrs of this is a class of weights with a barbell doing squats and lunges etc and then 1-2 cardio sessions.
Overall I just want to become more lean, tone up and shed some bodyfat.

My concern is that it recommends 2 shakes per day, I take the first shake for breakfast and the second after a training session. You can snack on nuts, fruit, yogurt during the day and have a proper lunch or evening meal also.
I plan to try this for a month or so and then give it a rest, but I can't help but feel like I'm on a slimfast diet drinking shakes instead of eating proper food i.e porridge in the morning etc.
I'm more aprehensive that after I stop these shakes that going back to normal eating would shock my body therefore increase my weight.
I don't eat awfully badly, sometimes a bit of chocolate, bit of cake or a biscuit.
Bread / Potatoes would prob be my biggest downfall of all

Does anyone have any experiences / knowledge with this protein shake, or any advice or guidelines for me.

    Thanks

Clean up your diet - i.e. find out exactly what your nutritional breakdown looks like daily; what you need more of/less of etc. A good ratio to work by is 40/30/30 to get you started. If you're only having one meal a day you're probably going to be hungry and I'd bet your 'snacking' is going to add up to the equivilant of what could be another decent meal instead. For only 50g of nuts alone you're looking at about 300kcal.

Switch to a decent brand of protein like ON and have a shake for breakfast or after your workout - if you need it. Shakes have calories too.

Use the shakes as supplements, not meal replacements (one for breakfast is grand though).

You could keep doing what you're doing and probably lose weight, but in the long term it's not really sustainable and it's certainly not going to be much fun. Look at your diet, be sensible about your intake and enjoy your food. Dieting doesn't have to be the killer so many people make it out to be - small changes can make a massive difference in the reality they tend to last longer than trying to make a massive dietary overhaul in one go. You don't say how much of your diet is bread and potatoes but cutting those down/out alone could make a big difference.

I don't eat that much potato anymore. For lunch today I had 1 small potato with Cod and beans. I prob won't have potato for another few days or week. Finding cutting potato rather easy.
Bread - Toast when I get peckish/late at night. And I suppose the only other time would be when I have Tuna/Mayo/Sweetcorn sandwich. 1-2 per wk.
The Pro Max diet - actually does fill you. No intention of snacking as I'm way too full today anyways :).
But Snacks to me are : blueberries, glenisk blueberry yogurt, 15 almonds, or mixture of brazilian/almond/Walnuts again between 15-20 nuts. (usually between 3-4pm)
Breakfast : Usually was/is Porridge with low fat milk and spoon of flaxseed.
Dinners usually are : Chicken cooked in coconut oil with veg fried off i.e peppers, carrots, broccoli, green beans.
Chicken or Fish with roasted parsnips, carrots, small bit of sweet potato (v.occasionally).
Homemade chicken curry with brown rice are all examples of my diet

1 chinese on a friday night ( I know I have to stop this )

I just feel like I am at a bit of a stand still with my body not shaping up the way I would like and like I said I would only be considering staying on the pro max diet for approx 1 - 2 months. (summer really)

Really I need to educate myself on counting calories, nutrition etc I honestly have no idea how to do this - i'm clueless if i am honest. Do people weigh/measure portions every day. Is there books that people swear by that break down calorie content of foods.

how should beginners learn the right way to count calories or where to source this information to even start with.

But short on time here, but in short:

Fitday.com is a good site for keeping track of what you eat, or there's a smartphone app called myfitnesspal. Both will give you a breakdown of what you're eating and at least a starting point to work from. I don't use it all of the time, but if I do find my diet going off track I always go back to logging for a while to sort it out.

The bread late at night isn't helping and you know that yourself, but to be honest your diet doesn't look too bad at all. The chinese won't kill you, but I'd cut down to once every 2/3 weeks instead and don't go for overkill with it. There's no real point in doing the shake thing IMO, you could just as easily substitute real food for the same calories you're getting from the shakes. There's nothing magic about them that will make you lose weight, it's the same protein you'll get from any food you eat. Maxi muscle is way over-priced and generally not a great product anyway.

What's involved in the barbell class? i.e. kg of weights/type of circuits? How long have you been training? Everyone runs into a standstill with training progress every now and then, you just have to stick with it.
