Im aiming for 3000 calories a day but struggle to even get 2000. Im eating chicken, sweet potatoes and kidney beans mainly until i get paid friday and add some extra lean mince to my diet. How can i bump up my calories in a way that wont leave me completley full and about to burst halfway through each meal?

Get something you can snack on regularly throughout the day. Tesco do 200g packets of cashew nuts for €3. 1060 calories & 35.4g of protein.

Drink milk. Easy to consume and full of calories and protein.

Please never recomend that to anybody again. I tried that before and just got really fat. Happened to loads of others too. I know you probly mean well but please never tell anyone to do that. Id hate for anybody else to make that same mistake.

Milk is a fantastic way of bulking, worked for me when I stalled with my lifts. I added a bit of fat but I also added muscle and broke through a plateau in my lifts.

Yes but instead of adding an extra pint/litre of milk like a sane person you started to drink a gallon of milk everyday. The gospel of Dave Tate, I think someone else on this site got fat from adding olive oil to pizzas.

Don't be afraid of getting some "dirty" calories in.

The last time you were on here you said you put on 2 stone in a week once. Now you can't eat more than 2k calories a day?

Milk is great for a few calories. I did a relatively good bulk last Christmas (7kgs in about 8 weeks and body fat went from c.11% to c.13%) and I drank two litres a day as part of that.

Tins of tuna in aldi are cheap. Eggs are cheap. Oats are cheap and can me mixed into a drink or shake. Loads of other stuff too.

There's no need to tell people to stay away from milk. It's calories are no more calorific than those of any other food. Which is heavier, a ton of bricks or a ton of feathers? By your logic it's the ton of bricks. If you overate and gained unwanted body fat, that was your fault, not the milk's.

Nuts and fruits are great, they have good fat and good sugar!

It's just calories. If you drink 4 or 5l of milk a day and go 2000 calories above your maintenance, you will get fat. If you just use it to get to your goal calories for muscle gain then you will put on minimal fat. It comes down the amount of calories you consume.

I would imagine you because really fat was because the ease of drinking lots of milk makes it very easy to exceed the amount of cals you need.

I should have made myself clearer, yes a bit of extra milk is ok but i wouldnt recommend anything more than 2 litres a day. GOMAD was the biggest mistake of my life, thats what i was advising against.

Whey + powdered oats + peanut butter is what you need

Yeah GOMAD is not a good idea. It does show the importance of tracking calories. You can't say that GOMAD is a guarantee of results for every person. It depends on your daily calorie needs. It's not correct to say that GOMAD will make you fat or won't because it depends on what else is eaten during the day on top of it. If you didn't eat anything else you'd lose weight. If you ate a normal diet on top of it, then you'd put on weight.

As mentioned, peanut butter is a great source of calories and good fats.

Avoid wasting money on lean mince. You're throwing away calories there

Best to keep it real simple so its easy to stick to.
Oats are about a euro in tescos.
3 scoops in a shake 3 times a day, thats about 1200 cals give or take in carbs alone.

    Im into bodybuilding/powerlifting/strongman
and need a diet high in protein and complex carbs. Food such as chicken breast, kidney beans, eggs

Apart from sweet potato did you pick up any other tips from the thread you made 5 days ago?

Honestly. I think you just need to pick a strategy and stick to it.

I, too, am waiting for pay day to buy loads of different stuff, but try and stock up when you do get paid. Go find your local butcher and make friends. Like a good barman, if you develope a relationship, he will give you a cut or a pound of mince if your short for payday. Lidl/Aldi wont do that for you. You can also freeze it and put together a nice stock of stuff in your freezer.

    Nobody suggested GOMAD.

A gallon of milk for a 160lb guy and the same for a 250lb guy are no the same. Their needs and potential for growth are miles apart. If you didn't understand and drank too much milk that's your own fault.
Please never recomend that to anybody again. I tried that before and just got really fat. Happened to loads of others too. I know you probly mean well but please never tell anyone to do that. Id hate for anybody else to make that same mistake.
Milk doesn't make you any more or less fat than the equivalent nutrients from meat and sweet potatoes. You are 1000 short. 1.5 litres will get you there easily.

When mince was mentioned on another thread. I advised against very lean mince on a bulk as the lack of fat and calories is counter productive to your goals. Plus the fact that its more expensive. It was your choice to disregard that advice if you'd rather the lean option.
But now a week later, you are experiencing exactly the issue which was predicted. By trying to be super clean you are making life harder for yourself.
