    Plath or Rich

I will literally go mental if I have to answer on Heaney :(. I know he's supposed to come up but if they throw in a themed question ... I haven't got a question ready I am going to use a sample answer and make it my own. I still need to get my Boland and learn a Kavanagh essay.

Role of women or Appearance vs reality.

Plath/Larkin/Rich in English. Not because they're the only ones I've studied, but they're the only ones I can write on where it isn't like drawing blood from a stone.

I can't understand all you depending on learnt off essays for poets and Hamlet etc.

Aren't you meant to read the material, know it well, and use your own knowledge of the play/poetry to come to an answer? Wouldn't it save a lot more time just concentrating on the topic rather then learn off ENTIRE, pre-written unoriginal essays and vomiting them up on Thursday....

Characteristics of soil for geography geoecology.
Kinsella/Rich & literary genre for english.
    An easy speech for english.
****ed for hamlet no matter what comes up except for maybe deception or something like that.:p

English: a nice B, like a good speech on paper 1 (because I have no idea how to do a report...should probably look it up just in case), Plath or Rich, GV&V, Claudius or Polonius or Deception on paper 2

Geography: some good question in the elective - like on migration, and one in regional cause I haven't done anything for that, and human activity or characteristics of biomes

Biology: human reproduction, food, ecology, genetic crosses...but those are hopefully given...if not I really am f*cked

Art: Caravaggio or Da Vinci or Van Gogh, High Crosses or Newgrange and a nice, simple appreciation

Seeing all of these "I'm doing Plath an Heaney" comments is heart breaking.

It was rampant in my school, I'm not sure about others around the country. But in our exam centre, the papers were handed out and followed by lots of confused and worried looking students glancing around at everyone else in a similarly-f*cked situation.

    ...myself included. sigh

    Haha simular responses all round.

All I could hear from the back of the center was 'Oh for **** sake' in a very annoyed voice.

I am one of the many students who banked on heany and Plath.... Anyway as I sat in my exam depressed I remembered the names of 4 of rich's poems : storm warnings, aunt jennifers tigers, and trying to talk with a man. Anyway I attempted the question and got 4 pages done.... It was all spoof and I only included 1 quote in the whole answer... Will I get any marks??? Please answer honestly :-(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 58 ✭✭Epsi

If( and this is just wishful speculation ) the poetry was badly answered as a whole across the country they may adjust the marking scheme to compensate.

You'll lose very little marks (maybe 5 max) for only having a single quote. As long as you explained your argument you'll do fine. Quotes are over rated on their importance.

Thanks for the replys :-) also is there such thing as a "bell curve" regarding the leaving
