It will work. You will be probably be hit by customs (~€100) plus the cost of whatever alternative delivery method you are using. Plus you'll be buying from a third party seller on a US website, so you'll have lots of fun if you need to get it fixed under warranty. Probably not worth the hassle.

customs wont be a problem as someone will be bringing it home for me(unless they get caught lol).its free delivery to them.
but the warranty issue i understand.i guess if it breaks im screwed.
its 391 euros for it.its a brilliant price compared to here.569 in carphone warehouse.
and even from amazon uk its 431euros.

You should be ok, that's a huge saving. If you know the person buying it you will have no problem with warranty

To be honest, if there's only 40 euro difference I'd get it from Amazon UK, not because it's closer to home, but because you're buying it direct from Amazon UK and not from a third party seller on Amazon US. If you buy in the US might come with a US charger as well.

just as a matter of interest will the galaxy s1 charger not work with the galaxy s 3?thought they would be universal.im pretty sure the pin is anyway.maybe its the power going through the plug your talking about.

It will, but a lot slower, the S1 had a 1000mah charger, S3 i think is 1500. The charger i got with my nexus 7 is 2100, the most powerful you can get, takes no length to charge phone

So my S3 was bought second hand and I have no proof of purchase. Samsung won't honour a warrant without a receipt,f it goes kaput its going to have been one horribly expensive mistake. Its on CM10 but one that dates back to before Christmas and doesnt include the sudden death fix.

What do I need to do to avoid the sudden death problem?

    Any help GREATLY appreciated.

Flash to stock again to get the fixes or update your CM to 10.1 monthly or nightly builds.

i don't think you need to do a full data wipe either if upgrading either but not 100% sure on that.

Thinking about moving away from SuperNexus, I see a lot of talk about the new version of CM but are there any other ROMs I should consider?

Cool, used his Slim ROM on my i9000 and I was very happy with that.

This is even better. I used that Slim on the i9000 too. He has a team of devs now. Some work they produce alright.

I'm sticking with CM10.1 nightlies, they are rock solid. Give it a try if you want a change after Slim

Just wondering does anyone on CM10.1 nightly have an issue with headphones cutting out every now and then.

to get it working i need to unplug, hit play and then while playing plug it back in. kinda annoying!

Just on this and maybe allay some of your fears, my S3 had sudden death syndrome 2 weeks ago. You have 2 options..there is a guy on Adverts.ie that can fix it for you for around €50...or take it to fonefix in Sandyford and they will fix it under warranty for a €15 handling fee...no proof of purchase necessary.

My phone was rooted although no custom roms were on there..still debating if I should!

Just flashed Slim Bean from SuperNexus, everything seems bang on, no problems so far.

One question for anyone using it, does it seem as if it takes a bit longer to boot into the phone than normal? Maybe it's just the animation but I'd swear SuperNexus booted faster.

Long one folks but bear with me! I flashed Slim Bean 2.5 last night. This morning I couldn't make calls but I could receive them although the other person couldn't hear me and I couldn't hear them. Around the same time I lost a data connection. I put it down to network issues so I did a scan to see if the network was available (I'm with emobile). All networks showed up bar Emobile? I selected Meteor for the craic and it connected. Still no calls or data until about 5 this evening. Since then the phone is still on meteor, shows Emobile on the drop down and shows Meteor on my Parrot BT kit.
I am starting to blame the ROM but I don't know why as everything seems fine. Anyone got any idea? It's bugging me big time

eMobile=Meteor=Eircom Mobile and it's MVNO, for different "customer profiles"

same network, same APN, same customer care, same number range, same mothership, Eircom!!!

    see this thread

So essentially it doesn't matter a sh1te what it says on the phone as it's all the one. Any idea as to why flashing the ROM changed it over? Would the stock ROM have masked the Meteor connection to show eMobile?

Can anyone advise on some of the best roms for the s3? Want to give a custom rom a try. I've heard CM has a number of issues on the s3, such as camera not working. I'd like to get as close to stock JB as possible. Thanks.

CM 10.1 is as close to stock as you are going to get. I was wary of the problems with CM on the S3 but gave it a shot thinking I could easily go back if I find it too buggy. I wouldn't go back. CM 10.1 runs very well on the S3. The only issue I have had is that the phone shut itself off a couple of times (literally just 2 or 3 times). There was/is a camera bug with the front facing camera. I'm not sure what it is, it was common and I had it on a much older nightly but I never use the front facing camera so I don't know if the bug is still present. As far as I know it only affect the camera app and not things like skype.

Apart from those minor issues I find it fantastic. It is a hell of a lot smoother and responsive than it ever was with Samsung stock rom. I would definitely recommend it.

You want stock like, then Omega is the one you want.

0 issue on mine (again never use front camera except for facelock but that works. I am on the latest nightly build but had the face unlock for last month or 2) highly recommend it.

although if you want multiwindow you can't get it on custom roms.

you could try supernexus for a true JB feeling though
