Anybody have any useful information on personal fitness courses? What certifications are out there? Where and when could they be done?

    All help/discussion appreciated.

Many personal trainers are doing so using the NCEF qualification. It is run in conjunction with Limerick University, but its run in many VEC type centres I believe. I know it is run in a College of further education in Waterford city alright. It takes 1 year full time to complete.

You would be able to get insured as a personal trainer from this.

Allot of what you need as a personal trainer depends on the route you want to take and how you want to instruct. There is literally thousands of 1/2/3 day courses in things like kettlebells etc that you can add to your original qualification.

I believe that to be sufficiently aware of all the aspects of fitness/health/exercise and to have the ability to give your clients the best possible service you really need a degree behind you. You need the ability to be able to understand new types of training that evolve and evaluate those for yourself and for your clients.

    Hope that helps.
