Their debut Violet Cries showed promise but for the most part was only just above average. They've really outdone themselves here and evolved their dark, ethereal dream-pop sound for the better. Probably the best new album I've heard so far this year.

    I came across this yesterday.

pretty dark.... folk tunes... although there's some strange distorted noises in there too.... the microphones might be a decent reference point.

    worth a listen

Can't say as I do,some of their songs are just fantastic esp with the female vocals. This track wouldn't sound out of place on a pixies doolittle era album.

Adam Ant folks!! - and Ye may cast me out of the Alt & Indie forum if you wish for posting this here.

Came across news of new album today in today's 'Metro'.
    Released 21st Jan
can only find 2 full tracks - this the better of the two

Based on what he's churned out over the last 25 years or more I fully expect the album to be shyte and will prob give it a spotify listen at best. Worth a listen tho, i reckon, if you're familiar with his early 'B-sides' stuff/first Ants album era and some of the b-sides of the early pirate era when he knocked out some great, great stuff. The above has echoes of that era but pales in comparison. It's likely a vain hope that he'll hit the mark again in the foreseeable but being ever the optimist an' all......

Only reason I post is that I do have a lingering soft spot for mr Ant. How could you not like these (Read: 'excuse to post'):

I've always considered him an artist of the highest order - mad as a hatter to boot. I've been intrigued by his trials and tribulations over the years. I will be eternally grateful for this track - this live version (in particular) only adds its sumptuous sexual overtones IMO [:P alcohol, eh?]:

I predict that this man will die in extraordinary circumstances just after having produced a masterpiece.

Thank you A&I for indulging me.

I've been listening to this quiet a bit over the last few days. I had already heard Breakers a few times previously and was impressed by it and the new direction the band have taken.

I was a big fan of Gorilla Manor, with it's instantly recognisable sound and catchy songs. This album is certainly a lot darker, the songs certainly aren't as initially memorable. However it really is a grower, the vocal melodies are still there, but more refrained.

Certainly is going to get plenty of plays from me.

    How to destroy angels_
    Welcome Oblivion

Haven't listened to it all yet, but I love the track "A Drowning"
The album is streaming on Spotify.

    Spotify link here!

Having listened to it all the way through, I still find the songs like ice age and a Drowning the most appealing. I like the opening track also. Definitely needs repeated listens.
