I have been recommended to get Rivaroxaban, which I must pay for in full.

How can I find a chemist in the Republic or Northern Ireland that is cheapest? I have quotes of about 100 EURO a month.

Are there any price comparison sites for medicines in Ireland?

Please put this in the correct place in Boards.ie if it is not there.

    Thanks.

    Moorsy22,
    thanks for your post.
I asked this question in 2009.
Since then I have been able to obtain rivaroxaban cheaply.

And you have been taking it consistently since 2009 ?
The reason I ask is I have been taking it for the last 6 months and will probably be on blood thinners for life. My Haemotologist wants to move me to warfarin, stating that xarelto is unproven for more than 12 months. When I was in hospital they hand out warfarin like smarties. A few people have said to challenge that and find out for myself, a nurse told me it was possible cost cutting exercise as xarelto is about 8 times the cost of warfarin.
So basically I'm looking to hear from people who have been taking it a lot longer than 12 months and no problems

What you have yo understand with warfarin, it is really cheap but the monitoring for it is really expensive. The main reason doctors are not endeared about Apaxiban etc. is the lack of monitoring. It is quite ironic as the manufacturers claim this as a benefit.

I may have been incorrect when I said I was on rivaroxaban since 2009, I think it should be that I was in boards.ie since then.
However I have been on it for a long time and it looks as if I will be on it permanently. I think I am doing fine and I do not see myself coming off it. I am not scheduled to see a cardiologist in the future. He left it to me to contact him if I need him. I hope this helps.

Anyone know if you can get Rivaroxaban in the new discount chemist, "Healthwave", in Dundrum:
