Freezing flaxseed

I just bought a big bag of Linwoods Flaxseed. In the "best before" instructions, it says to use within 45 days, but "Also suitable for freezing"

So, if I were to freeze half the bag, when should I use it by? And any special freezing/defrosting instructions? And will it not be as good, if frozen?

It's just I never even come close to using the full bag within those 45 days. And the stuff is so bloody expensive!
