    Time to Vote!

    http://bit.ly/tvawards2012

Voting will close next Thursday at 6pm, and the results will be posted as soon as I can after that. Results are anonymous and individual responses will never be revealed, so vote honestly.

It's time to vote on the best and worst of the 2011/2012 Television Season.

This year, the nominations will be done in 4 waves of 7 or 8 categories each.
To help boost the numbers and hopefully add some diversity, you can now nominate up to 5 entries per category.

Best Storyline/Finale/Twist etc. will be in the last group (to give shows like Touch and Game of Thrones a chance to finish).

The first 8 categories are now open for nominations.

People need to go nominate for this...
    It's important...
If people don't nominate, how will Community and Game of Thrones win all the awards?

Next group goes up tomorrow night (current group will be locked). :o

Last chance to nominate for first batch. They'll be closed and tallied tonight and the next lot will go up.

Next batch of 9 categories now open (until next Tuesday or Wednesday I'd say...)

Third batch now open for nominations.

    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=485

Next Monday we'll have the last batch (the fun storyline categories -- favourite scene, best twist, best finale etc.), with voting probably starting on Friday June 8th (if I can get my shit together).

Sad to see this on page three (shameless bump)

Last batch up. Some of my favourite categories too.... enjoy!
    Voting will be next week.

I have a query on this.

    - do we have to use spoiler tags when referencing to something relating to the season finale of a show for, say, the Most Memorable Scene?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,590 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

I'll leave it at your discretion, boney. Just use common sense. :o

Still counting nominations here, just over half way through.

I just wanted to make a casual observation. For "Best Comedy", there were over 35 different shows nominated. The one show missing was The Office. Not one single nomination. Hard to believe this is the same show that was so strong in its first 3 seasons.

It really shows how much the Office has decreased in popularity and quality.

And that reminds me of a thread that I've been meaning to start..

I just want to say a big thanks to people who actually named the actors and actresses for the Best/Worst Actor categories.

For people who nominated with character names instead of actor names - I'll just say Grrrrrrrrrrr.
For people who nominated in the form - "English PR Girl In Revenge" and "Polish Girl in Two Broke Girls" - Double Grrrrrrrrrr. :o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,590 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

    OK ready to go here.

    http://bit.ly/tvawards2012

The plus side of 5 nominations per person per category is some greater diversity.
The negative side is it takes a helluva lot longer to tally the nominees. :)

Go vote (good luck - some tricky choices this year!)

Voted. Some very tough choices in there, especially for things like best actor/actress, best episode, best show etc. With all the crappy reality shows etc it's very easy to forget that there is lots of top quality TV as well.

Can I change my mind or can I only vote once?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,590 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

I can change an answer if you want. Send me a PM.

You made a mistake in the person-you-love-to-hate section:

"Joffrey Baratheon" - you dare to call him like he was some sort of commoner? You should amend it to address His Highness by his full title:

Joffrey of the House Baratheon, the first of his name, rightful king of the Andals, the Rhoynar, and the First Men, lord of the Seven Kingdoms and Protector of the Realm (Game of Thrones)

To do anything else brings not only dishonour on you but will also rightfully place your head upon the wall for all to see your crimes

The Boltons haven't been introduced in the TV show yet?? At least as far as the show has said. At least I think...

jesus that was worse than my leaving cert, some impossible decisions, but all my shows got a fair spread, between game of thrones, breaking bad and homeland there were some though decisions, looking forward to the results,

36 sets of votes in, and honestly there are only 7 out of 34 questions that have definitive leaders. Everything else is wide open.

Er, some hard choices there! This forum should run the Emmys, everything is fairly represented and the choices all make sense.

Unbelievably hard choices, particularly the best episode one - was tough to pick between Legend of Korra and Community, but that 8bit episode was just something special. AND it had Gus Fring. Sorry, Korra.

That's all I could think of during that episode. :pac: Be warned, massive Breaking Bad spoilers.

It's really bad how much I look forward to the TV Awards.

Have you ever tried notifying the networks/people involved in these shows about the awards they've won? Might be quite fun to see how they react. Who knows, some might be interested as we have had networks making comments here previously.

I'd say you could even get a response from some. For example Joffrey Baratheon is pretty much guaranteed to win "Character You Love to Hate" and he's played by Jack Gleeson. Gleeson I believe lives and/or studies in Dublin so there's a good chance he'd know of boards and it might actually mean something to him.

I'd be more than happy to volunteer trying to get in contact with these people if Mr. E and others would like to too?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,590 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

    Definitely.... go for it!

I'd wait until Thursday first, though. How sure are you that Jack (Joffrey) will win that award? :p

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,734 ✭✭✭Newaglish

The Game of Thrones Bolton twist doesn't really make sense? There's no twist in the tv show

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,590 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

I haven't seen it so I don't know? I'm only going by what was nominated.
Can any GOT fans confirm that it should be removed?

Oh definitely, we'll wait until the results come in. Anyone else want to help me find these details?

It should be removed. It's only applicable to the books - that storyline was excised from the show.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,590 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

I'd remove it if nobody voted for it, but 4 people did (I assume book readers).
I'll just change the answer so nobody else votes for it.
