So 3 weeks to go until it all kicks off! Hope we can use this thread for everything related (except Ireland, already threads for us) to the tournament!:)

Thank god we are not located in Ukraine at least for the group stage! Ditto England!

For that jersey alone Germany deserve to win the tournament! Don't mess with the classics.

Those don't look like German fans to me, they are all dark skinned. I think that photo must have been taken in South Africa where the locals adopted Germany as a team to support.

I wonder is the hooligan issue in Ukraine as bad as the media are making it.

After seeing the report on Sky Sports News, you would be abit apprehensive if your going over, but in the meantime, those yobs that they featured seemed to have wanted no part of the police.

Pats fans escorted in and out of the country last season in EL. Watched the entire time by an squadron or some **** of coppers.

Nasty nasty place by all accounts, we played in Lyviv last season.

You can always trust the sun
    Football’s staying home
Only 3,000 England Euro 2012 tickets sold

Supporters have been put off by drab host cities, the threat from bigoted local thugs and the unfancied prospects of Theo Walcott and Co.

The 52,500-seat football stadium in Ukrainian mining city Donetsk will hold a mere 2,000 England fans when the Three Lions take to the field there during Euro 2012.

The national team is playing two of its three opening group games at the Donbass Arena next month.

But although the Football Association has made 9,000 official supporter seats available, it has been met with a wave of apathy.

    SNN1107XY---_1506367a.jpg

Menacing ... Ukrainian soccer thugs 'train' with knives in forest

Only 1,000 more fans are expected at England’s other group match in Ukraine’s capital Kiev.

Fans have been put off by the drab host cities, travel headaches, rip-off hotel prices and unfancied England’s prospects. They are also wary of the threat from local hooligans, including neo-Nazi thugs out to target ethnic fans, and Ukraine’s heavy-handed police.

Kevin Miles, international director of the Football Supporters’ Federation, said: “A strikingly low number of England fans are travelling from the UK. It’s hard to remember so few going abroad to support the team.”

    [...]

The local police are also a concern. They have been training for months to crack down on what they regard as England’s soccer “savages”. But Mr Holt has been trying to convince them the image no longer applies. And he hopes they will not “go steaming in” at the slightest hint of trouble. Around 20 uniformed British officers will travel to the Euros to help police the England games.

Anyone seen much in the way of flags or bunting or car flags out around the place?

I have not seen much yet myself.

I reckon one or two cars might have these attached to the wing mirrors soon. This one seems to be the wrong way round.:D

Thats actually the way they're designed to go. Basically the flag appears the correct way around when you view it through a mirror.

I'd say it'll be on the UEFA website after the 29th may when the official squads have to be in.

or they might even be wearing the proper numbers in the friendly against bosnia on saturday

FOURFOURTWO magazine suggested that tens of thousands of England fans are travelling. Obviously its word can't be taken as gospel but I think its a far more reliable publication and is certainly more in touch with the world of football supporting in Britain than the Sun!

Quite a good ad, but not quite as special as the "team talk" one that carlsberg did. A fair assortment of legends made appearances in that!

They also did the one for the Ireland team in 2002. A great set they have produced so far.

I don't know. That's not the impression I get from the Englandfans forum or from the fact that the two England games in Donetsk are the two slowest-selling of the Group stages.

Of course that could be that neutrals are shunning those games due to England's recent record of stinking every tournament out since 2004.

    :(

Whilst I think there's a fair bit of sensationalism in the media coverage (remember how every visiting fan would either be carjacked or shot in South Africa) I'm fairly happy with my decision to travel to Poland instead of Ukraine for the first week of the tournament.

To me it suggests a chessboard, a game of intelligence and skill, highly tactical and where every move is measured and thoughtfully made ... much like Croatia's game perhaps?

By comparison Ireland should get a jersey that reminds one of the popular 70's and 80's game "pass the parcel in a Belfast pub" in order to accurately reflect our cultured passing style.
