I'm hitting my 40s and need a boost of testosterone so what are the best natural ways to increase it?

Also, what supplements apart from Caffeine would increase mental alertness?

Squats, deadlift, press for test. Alpha GPC can be good of alertness.

If you're done having kids, TRT is a viable option but you won't get any advice on that here. You'd have to talk to your doc. How do you even know your test is too low? Again a Q for your doc.

extra sleep is also very under rated

True, I wouldn't be getting much sleep with all the porn.
Joking aside, I work night shifts which probably have done my health more harm than good.

How did you come to the conclusion that you need a T boost? Have you any signs or symptoms of low Testosterone?

Seems pretty random to decide one of the hormones in your body is deficient and try to artificially increase it, via 'natural sources' or not.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 769 ✭✭✭Da Za

    Extra sleep will definitely help.

If you are actually feeling run down you may want to consult a doctor.

Generally being more active, training better, being in better condition will also help plus a good eating plan.

    On a side note:

Not this squat thing increasing test levels again, really a load of crap and broscience at its best.

Squatting activates multiple muscle groups, great for building overall strength and conditioning yeah your right bro. :)

So does sneezing. Let's all sneeze to increase test levels.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 185 ✭✭superluck

I don't see the harm in eating foods or taking supplements that would increase levels.
It's mainly to enhance my mood and I do excercise already.

Before a workout, I take Nox Pump drink which keeps me full of energy for the day, not sure if the levels of caffeine (300mg per sachet) too much or not.

    Yeah good point.
So I guess women shouldn't squat. As increased test would lead to problems like facial hair.

Have never tried it, but the herbal supplement 'horny goat weed' is supposed to be good. You can get it in most chemists.

This looks okay but is it not like a herbal viagra?
I'll see if I can find it in holland and barrett or order online.

Apparently body builders and other athletes do use it but there doesn't seem to be any research that proves it naturally increases testosterone.

back in the day, i always found that iron tablets taken for just 10 days every so often always helped.

Look if you want to increase your test for muscle gains, an over the counter "booster" will do nothing

That is absolutely exactly what I'm doing. Fantastic deduction.

Well, what should I be asking for then?

    Nothing. They don't work.

if you think you have low test, go to your gp for tests

Dude. It doesn't matter one iota. Really, it doesn't. Stop looking for shortcuts and getting tetchy when people tell you things you don't wanna hear.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 185 ✭✭superluck

Hanley, you clearly have nothing better to do.

You've not made one decent response so far so please say no more.

"sneezing" -- seriously man, get lost.

Well if you want a doctors or a nutritionists opinions, ask them instead of an internet forum.

Like others have said, why do you think you have low T?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 185 ✭✭superluck

All I'm looking for are recommendations...

Unless you're a doctor or nutritionist, I'm not interested in your opinion on how effective they are, especially one with a condescending tone.

I'm not getting tetchy about genuine advice, I'm getting tired of useless responses and people wasting my time.

Well doesnt the fact that almost no one is willing to recommend any tell you something about the effectiveness of these products??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 372 ✭✭UL_heart_throb

    Strange one this is.

You want professional advice from a Dr or a Dietician but you want it for free, packaged nicely for you and delivered here? You can't have your cake and eat it.

There are no 'natural testosterone boosters' promoted by either Drs or dieticians.

Just as a matter of interest, why do you want to boost your T?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 185 ✭✭superluck

"natural testosterone booster" does not mean taking supplements, you can get it from food or physical activity.

Some people have recommended sleeping more which is a perfectly reasonable response which i'm thankful for.

Unfortunately, this thread has attracted some really arrogant self-absorbed people with too much time on their hands trying to give me advice when they're unqualified to do so.

Recommendations does not mean being an asshole.

    like yourself.

what kind of difference to your T levels does 6 hours sleep versus 8 hours and what difference to protein synthesis does this (if any) change in T level have?

    T levels are circadian anyway
