Intro: age 41, being sticking (on and off) to Neil McTeggart diet regime for 2 or so years (thanks to the boardsie who put me onto that back in the day). Put a few pounds on recently; nothing major but looking to lose that and get back on course.

Have been doing the following split regime for a while and feel stuck in a rut:
    Day n

    Squats or Deadlifts (alternate)
    Leg Curls
    Weighted Crunch
    Calf Raise

    Day n+2

Dumbbell Press or weighted dips (alternate)
    Back row (machine)
    Pull down
    Shoulders Dumbbell Press
    Biceps curl (cable)
    Triceps extension cable

Rinse and repeat (Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays)

Am thinking of trying Neil's full body regime as follows:
    Monday – Full body (heavy) 6 – 8 reps
    Squat
    Bench
    Deadlift
    Row
    Military press
    Wednesday – Full body (medium) 8 – 10 reps
    Squat
    Bench
    Deadlift
    Row
    Military press
    Friday – Full body (light) 10 – 12 reps
    Squat
    Bench
    Deadlift
    Row
    Military press
    A few questions:

    1. Is squats & deadlifts three times a week too much for a hardgaining 41 year old bloke?
    2. I quite like doing weighted dips; could I add them to the routine?
    3. Currently I'm aiming for fat loss; is the above regime still l suitable?

    Cheers,

    P.

I would say that you would be better off alternating the squats and deadlifts. Maybe deadlifts Monday and Friday one week and reverse that with squats the following week. If you have the time you could also think about adding in some supplementary exercises on each of the days focusing on a certain body area.

One day you could 2 sets of bicep curls and tricep extensions.
One day of bent over barbell rows and wide grip chin ups, help to build up your upper back
Some lateral raises to aid your shoulders and some lunges to aid your legs.

Ah well it's a while since I posted that and I have to say I've seen huge gains using it. For example, when I started that 3 months ago (I've been on a break for a few weeks in fact) I was DLing 33kgs; I'm now up to 55kg.
