    Hi Folks,
    I've had a look in the FAQ's and a few other threads, perhaps you can help.

    I'm a complete novice to cycling and have recently got the taste for it and want to buy a decent road bike through the bike to work. I'm willing to spend the full €1k on bike and gear however when I browsed through the shop I realised very quickly I had no idea of good (or more importantly bad) brands and components of bikes etc.

    If you were me, needed a bike and all equipment what would you go for?

    Any help would be greatly appreciated
