Im bit worried about my boyfriend and his diet and his future health
I try to eat healthy myself and walk good bit
But he dosnt eat a breakfast just some crappy stuff from a petrol station and at weekends cooked breakfast
He eats a lot of crap like crisps, chocolate etc barely any fruit or veg
I'm just worried as he does get high blood pressure and I think his overweight his only 33
How do I start getting him to eat better and stop risk of heart problems or the like
Was thinking at the weekend maybe start with making soup and go from there
My cousin died in his early 40's don't want same thing to happen to him

    Thanks

I suppose in the long run he will need to make that decision about the food he eats.
If he decides to make an effort then he could start changing unhealthy food for healthy food.It would be hard to watch him 24/7 otherwise.

But i have a few ideas that helped me with going totally off sugar and carbs. For snacks between meals you could try get him to eat nuts. But not peanuts.
Nut are quite filling too and have alot of good healthy fats.

I also eat plain yogurt for snacks and if he needs them sweetened you could add berries and fruit or also put a small bit of flavoured yogurt in the mix to sweeten it a little or a bit of honey.

Breakfast you could try poached eggs or fry them in coconut oil and serve with some spinach done in garlic and butter.
Then nuts and/or yogurt to fill up after the breakfast if needs be.With a herbal tea and lots of zylitol gradually reduced over time ;)

Soup is always good, but i would think if he isnt full from it, he will be likely to go for something sweet after.

    *cough*nuts and/or yogurt with fruit*cough* :)

Actually you could probably get him to eat any number of things if you ambush him with a breakfast in bed :D
    Would work on me anyway!

I like to buy maybe 12-18 eggs at the start of the week and boiling them all in one night. Keep em in the fridge and they're very handy to have if you're stuck for something to eat. I know I'd feel better with myself for eating an egg or two as a snack as opposed to something sugary!

@Torakz, why do you say no peanuts? I have peanut butter most days that is made from 100% peanut. thought it would be a good way to get in some good fat and calories?

I avoid eating a lot of nuts because I find the case against excess n-6 compelling (see William Lands), even if nuts specifically are not well studied.

There is no question that it is hard to minimize excess n-6 while eating a lot of nuts. Hence I avoid eating a lot of nuts more than I avoid eating legumes like black beans.

I mentioned peanuts because they have more calories afaik.
And considering the thread topic i figured more calories might not be as good as more fat to fill up on.
Although good point on omega 6 i do have to make sure i eat more almonds than walnuts etc.

Yeah almonds are great. I change between peanut and almond butter. I'd use all almond butter but it's twice the price! myprotein.co.uk do a 1kg tub for ~€11.

Not quite at the stage where those minute details like enough omega6 and all that count. Just getting the general diet right first. All that will come once I hit a big roadblock :)
