Kick drop in module Evolv

    Anyone have experience with these?

Am I right in thinking that using one of these will turn any device into a variable device?
The reason I'm asking is, I quite fancy getting a device that is purely mechanical with no electrics in it. But I know I would miss being able to vary the voltage.

    i think it's a variable wattage device?
so similar enough to a variable voltage in how it all turns out, but a bit different really
you set it to X watts and whatever ohm carto you have on it, it adjusts the voltage down/up so you reach that wattage

    I think anyway...

I've watched a couple of videos on vaportrails tv and youtube etc on the kick and it seems that a lot of opinions think that vaping will go this way in the future with a lot of future mods coming on the market being variable wattage rather than variable voltage.

I know evolve are developing and bringing out another variable wattage mod as well in the near future and are going to be supplying variable wattage boards to manufacturers and mod makers.

The idea is that it makes for a more consistent vape as you will find what your sweet spot is and no matter what setup you go with be it atty, carto, clearomiser etc you will always get the level that you like and can go up or down a watt or two when need be.

I can kinda see that point alright, especially with repairables if they become more common but it's too juice dependent for it to be the standard imo

even .2 of a volt can make a serious difference with different juices in the same carto, or even the same juice depending on what flavour you want to get more of.. swedish fish is a very different juice at 4v in a 3ohmn carto than it is at 5v, variable voltage is the easiest way of mixing it up

although if you're a one juice for the day man @ xV and you know you wont be changing it then I can definitely see the kick or an equivelant device being a worthwile purchase

It's a handy yoke for keeping the vape consistent tho as well.

Set it to 10watts and you keep getting 10watts till the battery dies....

I can get 2 days out of the battery in my silver bullet...but after 24hrs you definately notice a drop off in performance from the battery.

    .
The only cons is u have to use smaller battery (18500), 18650 won't fit the mod with the Kick on . Unless u got GGTS ....

couldnt you screw the threads on partway and then use some orings to cover the gap? or does the bottom cap just not connect at all with the threads

  • Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 3,708 Mod ✭✭✭✭eeloe

The kick is actually pretty big, if ya put it on the top of an 18650 and you forced the top back on, the sping would be completely compressed at the bottom of the tube, and you'd still only get one or two turns on the threads.

Highest mAh 18500 I've seen is about 1100, which isnt really high but the lower battery life is a small price to pay for what ya get.

    i dunno
i really dont think it's that much trouble to fiddle with two buttons on a VV mod :)

I'd love to get my hands on a ggts, but if I was to look at a purely mechanical device is the the siam cube mod my best alternative?

Saw a GGTS on ukv over the weekend, £180 second hand...fook, that.

    Check out the Galileo

That looks promising....may pick up two of them and a kick when the kicks themselves come back in to stock somewhere.

Safer cigs are getting them in on Wednesday, but I've more chance of being struck by lightning than picking one up. His site nearly crashed the last time when there was a rush to get them.

Yeah it does, I'm nearly sure. That video is quite old, there's a newer v2 on the market now too!

really hate people who say uk only

My kick and batteries arrived this morning! :)

had to wait till this afternoon to pick it up tho, unfortunately! :(

    It's a BEAST of a yoke...love it! :)
puffing away on my silver bullet at around 4volts on an Boge LR carto(8watts) :)

throw a 3ohm in there as well and tell us if the vape remains the same :)

ideally get a 2ohm and a 3ohm, fill with same juice and then try to guess which is which :p

er.... I'll probably power it up in couple days , although still waiting for some switches from china , 510 bat. connectors from liberty-flights ( well , i think I'll just hack an old ego battery for now :) )
as for the case .... I'll use this plastic box

for now , but looking forward to make my own case ( wooden or carbon , we'll see :)
