i am wondering will a vu + do all the humax will ,ie update automatically provide epg, series link etc, or is it overkill for some one who is basically interested in freesat and a bit of experimentation with a few other satellites on a second lnb, i see the vu can record dtt via extra dtt tuner or usb attachment i dont think humax can record rte unless on saorsat, and advice or pointers ?

update automatically - No the Vu+ won't do that (afaik)
    provide epg - Yes
series link - Effectively yes via auto search on EPG for particular text in program titles/descriptions.

I know little about the Humax apart from the fact that it is very highly regarded for Freesat. Hence I cannot comment on it's capabilities regarding non-freesat channels. As a Freesat box it will be significantly easier to use and set up and keep set-up for UK channels than the Vu+. On the other hand it's not going to be as user-configurable and expandable as the Vu+.

Vu+ also doesn't have mheg5 so no red button or digital teletext. The red button channels can be tuned in as seperate channels on the vu+.

I don't think the series link works that great on the vu+ to be honest. The auto search on the vu+ is a bit fiddly.
