Canada: IEC 2012 Quota Question

    Hi,
Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere - I did look but couldn't find it.

I received my processing email from the IEC on 08/05/2012. I've checked the site and as of 03/05/2012 there are 518 visa left.

Now my application is processing, am I included in the available quota left or does that only decrease as LOIs are given?

    Any help appreciated.

The quota decreases when they scan in the barcodes at the start of the process, then it's increased again if any problems are found in the application.

You have a place, don't worry,

Thanks for the reply, John - that's a massive relief :)

    Hi there ,

Is it too late to get the one year visa for Canada? I plan on submitting the application this week through an agent . Do the places go down when application is received or is it after the two months grant date ?

How long does it usually take to confirm receipt of application ?

    Thanks

I don't know the URL off the top of my head, but if you google IEC Canada it should be the first result. Then there's a little box on the right of the page and the remaining quota is there.

I'm not sure how successful you'll be, only about 3 or 4 weeks ago there was nearly 2000 visas left when suddenly the quota started dropping by hundreds a day, it hasn't moved in a while, that might be due to the fact that they aren't receiving much applications and the quota doesn't really need to be updated just yet, or they just haven't gotten around to updating it, if the latter is true then you might be in trouble because the quota hasn't been updated in nearly 2 weeks, meaning there's a good chance they could be nearly all gone if the quota kept dropping as quickly as it was before.

The quota drops when they receive your application, and usually you receive your notice of receipt from the embassy 4 weeks after you post it, give or take. You should still apply just incase but you might have left it a bit late.

Exactly, apply now, the worst that can happen is they tell you no.

    Hey,

I had to re-submit my application - they recieved it on Thursday May 3rd and I got my initial processing email on Tuesday May 8th so they're getting a lot quicker. It took a month for that the first time I submitted so I'd take a punt and send one off asap - you might just be in luck.

    Thanks for replies ,

The main reason for me not submitting before now , I was waiting 4 months for police clearance . Took my local rural area Guards that long to send out a simple one page sheet .

Wow only 5 days to process hopefully mines that quick , Im using an agent so shouldnt be any delays with my forms .

Toronto looks awesome , Heres hoping !

I can imagine that number going back up as the applicants after the trade show loose interest or just don't bother to pay the submission.

    Hi,

As of today there's only 29 visas left! We submitted our application by same day courier on the 16th May 2012. It was rejected due to payment being included (this was for our sons study permit),we received it back on the 20'th May at 10:00am. We re-submitted the forms the very same day by DHL same day and it was signed for at the embassy and we have received our initial Notice of receipt email yesterday (25th May) at midday! Amazed how quick they have been I'm assuming they've caught up.

I'm hoping that we have been allocated a visa already and it wont be rejected once the final 29 are fulfilled.....? Very confusing...From what I've seen people seem to think they allocate you one as soon as you receive this email but you cant get a clear idea from their website..

Got our request for payment today. Does anyone know if many people are refused in phase 2 ??

We will not accept any applications mailed after Monday May 28th, 2012 (as attested by the postal mark). There is no guarantee that applications received before this date will be approved. Applications are processed on a first come first served basis. Once the quota is full with applications that have been approved, we will stop all processing. You will be notified of the status of your application as soon as possible.

Information regarding the opening of the 2013 International Experience Canada Working Holiday for Irish participants will be posted on this page in the fall of 2012. We thank you for your interest in Canada.

Looks like game over for this year

I got my payment request email yesterday afternoon but my letter requested 105 Euros instead of £90! The 3 people I'm travelling with each got requests for £90 so I'm not sure why mine was stated in Euros.

When the woman at the bank sent the payment, the conversion worked out to £86.19 - now I'm concerned they'll reject me on these grounds. Has anyone else had this during the tail-end of the quota?

The quota is officially at 0 now too.

I've seen on another forum that they sent out an email saying it was sent in error and that you should just pay the £90 not Euros.

I assume you're applying from the UK then? id send the £90 just incase. they're not going to reject you for over paying

This is what with said, although I cant confirm authenticity as it wasn't sent to me personally but thought it may help you!

For everyone who got the request to pay in euros, i just got this email:

    Good morning;
A technical error has occurred in our system and you have received the incorrect letter. Please make arrangements to pay your participation fee in GBP rather than Euros. The participation fee is £90. We are currently rectifying the technical error in our system, information will be posted on our website to notify applicants of the need to make their payment in pounds sterling, and another message will be sent to individual applicants to confirm the requirement. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
    Kind regards,
    The IEC Team
    UK / Ireland

I just paid the 105 Euros but I've not had any email back saying this is incorrect and I've not seen anything on their site regarding this.
I think I'll have to email them ASAP and see what they say.

I emailed the IEC and after some back and forth, they've said that I don't need to repay or to make up the £3.81 shortfall from the Euro thing - I just had to email proof of payment and they replied with:
"Thank you for your prompt reply. We will pass your correspondence to the reconciliation team with a special request that your payment be accepted and your file transferred to the Visa Section as soon as possible. You will hopefully hear from our office again in the next few days.
    Kind regards,

    The IEC Team
    UK / Ireland"

Not gonna lie - it's been a stressful day sorting this out but it's a load off my mind knowing that my application won't be refused because of this :)

Oh, and I can confirm the email regarding their 'technical error' that's been copy and pasted in a previous post is authentic - it's the first reply I got when I emailed them initially.

Today is the first day (I think anyway) that the places remaining is down to zero on the IEC website.

It is an awful process this year, I must say. You're spot on though, the paranoia you go through with this and the waiting is awful. I'm sick of stressing over it and trying to second-guess things. I'm still not convinced I'll get a visa this year but my family and friends seem to think I will.

My friend paid her fee on April 2nd or 3rd and she's still waiting on her LOI! She did potentially need a medical initially but then they said they'd reviewd her history and decided she didn't need one aftr all but she's still waiting too!

Fingers crossed for you too though - how many of you are travelling?

We've got 3 children, 2 of which under 6 and my eldest boy is 7 so we're also applying for a study permit for him too (which you have to) I honestly keep checking our emails every 10 minutes!!! How many of you are going? Where are you looking to live? I'm not aufait with these forums but it's so reassuring to know and talk to like minded people!:)

There are 4 of us - one is 27, two of us are 25 and my cousin is 21. We're going to start in Vancouver and take it from there. Both the lads have their LOIs so it's just me and my other friend waiting.
Where are you looking to go?

I know how you mean about these boards tho - I came across it by chance but I'm really glad I did :)
