Think the Harbour Hotel has an offer at the minute for 3 months for €60, I got an email about it anyway because I was a member before for a while.

It's a very small gym though so it depends what times you're planning on going. I found it was very busy between half 5 and 7 but before and after that I as good as had the place to myself.

Worth going down for a trial anyway to see what you think!

Not a bad offer but they only have 2 threadmills, 2 bikes, a cross trainer, a few machines and a very small amount of free weights...

Leisureland does 3 months memberships or Pay As You Go. Pretty sure others do too.

Just to throw it out there, galway bay hotel has 12 month student gym only membership for €150 or gym and swim for €250, both are a LOT cheaper than anywhere else i found!

I got a text from oranmore lodge leisure centre last week offering 3 months for 89 eur. I went there during winter with some vouchers from living social between that and other offers for claregalway hotel and peak physique in headford road sc I had gym training for all of winter months. Guys working in oranmore gym said to ask them about other deals when vouchers run out and I also noticed another living social deal from them last week, so it might be worth giving them a call. Buyers market and all.

i used to pay every month, and after 8 months i dont want to go there anymore as the summer is on, and they want to pay me more and more...****...

I'm interested in joining Kingfisher in Renmore but I wouldn't put all the money down in one go. Around how much are they charging per month?

That's a bit harsh alright. Kind of goes against the whole reason why people take it by month in the first place.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 259 ✭✭piobhan

what is peak physique on the headford road like. €89for 3 months.
pepe so you paid €44 a month. wat are the opening hours there. i might be interested ib taking it over from you

Did you sign a contract to say you would stay a minimum of 12 months at the start? If so then is it not you who is been unreasonable, if didnt think you were going to last the 12 months, dont sign the contract.

I was a member in Peak Physique about 6 years ago. At the time they had a good selection of equipment (such as treadmills, free weights etc), and it was never that busy. However I found the place to be quite grubby looking inside and the changing rooms/showers weren't the cleanest. Obviously that was 6 years ago so the gym could be drastically different now.

I only went there a few times, felt it was a little bit shabby alright and not very friendly.

That works out at €1000 a year, that is bloody extortion!

1000 a year would be extortion alright. But if the OP wants a 3 month membership I thought; to join for a year its 650.
Previous poster had said Leisureland. Thats €180 for 3 months. In comparison to Ocean Fitness 180 is a complete rip off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 259 ✭✭piobhan

250 for 3 months is crazy! wont be paying that. might av a look around peak physique and av a closer look! any other suggestions.want to join somewhere next week

I'm from Cork originally and the difference in prices for leisure centres/gyms between the two counties is huge. Galway is way more expensive than Cork, I reckon that theres a cartel between the whole lot of them in Galway. I saw an ad in the advertiser for the maldron in Oranmore for €150 for 3 months off peak and €190 for anytime for 3 months, that works out at €760 for the year if you have to pay quaterly, and that was a special offer FFS ...still way to expensive.

The annual price is usually a lot less than four times the price for a quarter.

    Hi guys,

Just wondering what the cheapest gym membership in Galway is for a student? I've just finished a membership at the Kingfisher NUI Galway and I'm planning on shopping around before reissuing it.

Also, if somewhere is extremely cheap and there's an underlying reason why, please do tell.

    Rob

    Hi Everyone,

Im going joining a gym in Galway, I have been out of the city for a year so im not too up to date with the gyms.

I was in GMIT Gym before (not great) I heard Renmore Kingfisher is not too great. Is that true?

Im looking just for a gym, decent bikes/cross trainers, and a good selection of free weights.

What is a good one? I have read your posts on NRG bohermore and its sounds good.

But what about Carlton? Im looking for a place that isnt too busy 6-8pm week days.

    Any tips? thanks

You get one hell of a workout done in an hour!

I used to be a member of the carlton before and now a member of NRG I use there 2 gyms and find it quite and no shortage of machines and weighs. I much prefer NRG :o

I justed checked NRG, bit pricy 400 for 3 months? Is carlton much cheaper? shocked at those prices to be honest

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3 Blue41

I joined on a 3 month membership and it was 199 for 3 months. I know they do a cheaper rate for couples too. Not sure about the 400??

    Hi guys,

I'm living out in Oranmore so I'm looking to get a 6 months membership on the east side of the city. I'm looking for a gym with a really good selection of free weights but if I can't find one, value is key. So far I've narrowed it down to the Maldron or Kingfisher Renmore

Anyone know what the free weight situation is in either of these placves? The Maldron would be my preferred option as it's 2 minutes from where I live, has a pool and is 300 euros for 6 months.

Any help or advice would be appreciated!
