DayZ Zombie Mod for Arma 2

I've completely ignored Arma up until ten minutes ago. Just because I knew it was an army FPS. And I'm so sick of those games.

But wow. I just watched a video of Arma and DayZ (had no idea what DayZ was before this, or that it was just an Arma mod).

It looks like an absolutely amazingly realistic simulation.

Might be the first army FPS I could add to my top ten games ever. And I haven't even played it yet!

Come on Steam Sale, let it loose!

New Arma Beta version. Seems to fix the battle eye problems over the last version. Loading times were quicker too by far.

I play on "Boards" all the time under "spacecadet187" i know a few of you have raped my of all my nice gear more than once, which took me ages to get. All good fun tho!.......btw from Galway!............so should us Irish lads have a safe word to be "friendly"to each other..something in irish?....but maybe you don`t wanna be friendly!

on a more serious note, I think there should be a Boards drop in group, so if you fancy teaming up to get tooled up jump into mumble see whos there and get raiding. I think this would be useful as occasionally i wouldn't getting together for a ganbang.

Not all people use the steam group either.

Were is the best place to purchase Arma 2(digitally) primarily for the purpose of playing DayZ?I see its available on steam and some other services.Im just wondering what are the advantages and disadvantages of each.Thanks in advance for any help.

You know what I've realised is another good thing about this game? There's **** all penalty for not playing it, compared to online games where you level up, for example.

If you play every day for a month or if you don't play for a month, the game is still hard as ****, and while you might get more gear the longer you live, you'll only live for so long.

Found a tent last night outside cherno. " sniper rifles, a4, MP5sd, pistols, and ammo for all, blood, morphine, matches, compass, map, hatchet, hunting knife.

Ye really can't trust anyone in this game

Met a guy at balota and didn't shoot him. He talked to me over chat saying there was some ak ammo for me in one of the hangers. This was fine and we searched the tower and the sheds at the end shooting zombies to cover each other. On the way to cherno I look behind me and he's crouched aiming at me and boom.

I'm shooting on sight now from now on. I had an AK with 7 mags and I had only started.

1.62.95168 is latest. I get bad version too. It's just out today I think to fix the battle eye issues. Loading in seems quicker too.

Yep launcher updated and now can't get onto boards. I'm sure that explains why there's only two playing on the server right now. Oh well, I'll go rape some other server for now :rolleyes:

Dayz IE1 SERVER 1.7.2.3/95054

Will look at updating later

Man six updater is such a pain in the ass!

Its so much easier to torrent the files and throw them in to the @DayZ folder! Easier and less annoying when a bust release gets propagated!

Every other way i try i always get a directx 9 error.

there are several, one thing you can do is use 6updater to create a shortcunt (right click in 6 updater and select create shortcut), then you can use that to enter the game, you can even put the dayz folder somewhere else and link the game to it



for example, this is a batch file, created to run the mod from my ramdisk which happens to be F:\@DayZ
open a text file past the following in to it:

"c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\expansion\beta\arma2oa.exe" -nosplash -nopause -skipintro "-maxmem=2047" "-cpucount=2" "-name=paul" "-mod=c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\arma 2;expansion;expansion\beta;expansion\beta\expansion;F:\@DayZ"

You just need to paste the path to your dayz folder instead.
rename to dayZLauncher.bat or something and run it from your desktop/

Tried creating a shortcut to my arrowhead exe using the following target line:

"E:\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\ArmA2OA.exe" -nosplash -nopause -skipintro "-beta=Expansion\beta;Expansion\beta\Expansion" "-mod=E:\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\@DayZ"


It launches fine, no more directx9 error but it seems the boards server still has a different version. Did it update since yesterday? was able to join fine then. (i havnt updated to that new battleeye patch yet so i assumed i could join fine)

I notice that the boards server is 95054 and there has been three patches since then according to here: http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php

Has there really been that many? Or have i been using an old version this whole time with boards? lol crazy.


Aaaaanyways, long story short, trying to update to the current boards version 95054 and it wont let me download it on that link: http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php

The link seems to be broken.

Ive created copys of the arrowhead folder so i could avoid all this when a new unexpected patch comes along but seems i missed a patch or two along the way.

Edit: Ok i found a torrent of 95054 and installed it fine, using the command file from that youtube video above.

It launches fine and actually gives me the ability to attempt to connect to the boards server now but pretty much instantly disconnects with the error: "You cannot play/edit this mission; it is dependent on downloadable content that has been deleted.dayz_code, dayz_weapons, dayz_equip, dayz_vehicles"

Back to google/experimentation it seems. Some progress atleast though.

yes it did, but i'd make a backup first and keep it, not a lot of servers are updating yet

I've tried a ton of things and nothing seems to work, just gonna wait until the server updates. I've stopped caring.
