    Hi,

I've been on a diet since december and have lost a lot of weight. I understand it is normal to miss a period during weightloss due to hormonal changes but I have already missed 3 consecutive periods (feb-apr). Is this still normal or is this extremely bad for my health?

Women who lose a lot of weight, exercise a lot and who are restricting calories often have amenorrhoea. There are other health issues associated with this and therefore it's important than you talk to your GP/doctor.

Changel, it is important that you consult your GP and not boards.ie. He/She is a professional and is there to help you with whatever problem you have. It is not safe to seek advice from people who may not have appropriate medical knowledge. It's only natural to be concerned and worried, and to come here and seek advice. Everybody is always a little fearful going to the doctor but they're there to help you-There is nothing to be afraid of:) It is probably only a simple problem to fix, and is more than likely to do with you over-restricting certain areas of your diet.

To put your mind at rest, and get back to your full state of health, please visit your GP.
