Repeat exams/years and capping of results..Fair or unfair??

I repeated a couple exams in second year. I don't know how you could fail the repeats because they're exact replicas of the first ones (which aren't too different from the previous year).

I don't see what all the bother is about. For the first three years of your degree you will realistically get between 10% and 14% of your total grade. I don't see the point in failing on purpose to get an extra 0.16%. And for Serious Subjects your degree turns into garbage if you have to repeat a final year exam.

Why don't they just do away with repeats - like in America? And give you more credit for 3rd year at least. 15% for 3rd vs. 80% for 4th is kind of ridiculous since the amount of work is pretty much the same. I actually found 3rd year more difficult. Last semester was a breeze.

Same reason you'd fail the original I'm guessing.

Because it's an opportunity for them to make money. Why would they want you to drop out when they can charge you €200 (lol) to resit the exam, then take your fees for the rest of the course?
