Is A Guy Of 5'8 Too Short To Date??

I'm a 5'8 male, and I've heard rumours that the vast majority of women do not like to do someone of this height or smaller. Although only around 25%-33% of men are 6ft and above so most men are smaller than this. I've never really taken notice of this nor cared until recently reading on the internet that the majority of women would refuse to date someone around my height under almost any circumstances and I'm just curious how true this is??

Now I understand that taller men are deemed more desirable, and women above 5'8 may struggle to date a 5'8 guy, that's also understandable.

Would you date a 5'8 male?? Or is that a no no under any circumstances??

OP, I really don't think many girls would have a problem with your height - it's fairly average.

Just think for a minute... of all the men you know is it only the ones over 6ft that get dates or are in relationships? I seriously doubt it!

Tbh this whole taller thing is Misconceived. A woman likes a fella taller than herself, he first have to be 6 foot he just has to be taller than her. A 5 foot woman would look odd with a guy of 6 foot yet a girl of 5 foot 7 would not.

There are plenty of girls out there under 5 foot 8. The average height is 5 foot 4 or 5 foot 5.

Don't get caught up on height, think of my poor brother who is just 5 foot 4... he managed to get girls smaller than him or around the same height.

I prefer to be in a relationship with a man who is taller than me but if I liked a fella his height wouldn't stop me from being with him. My boyfriend is around the 5'8/5'9 mark and towers over me.

That's like saying men with a waist measurement of 33'' won't get a date.

    Imma marry a man who's 5'8''

We're engaged, I'm not just gonna go randomly looking for some 5'8'' fella to marry...THAT would be strange...

I'm 5'3 or 5'4 (not totally sure!), the guys I've dated have been 5'4 all the way up to 6'5, it didn't bother me. To be honest I preferred dating the shorter dudes as with the really tall guys it felt like they were hovering over me. :o

To be honest I would prefer a guy to be a bit taller than 5'8, but if I liked a guy it wouldn't stop me going out with him. I do love wearing heels and would still prefer it if the guy was taller, but like I said, not a dealbreaker.

I've read in more than one place that the average height of an Irish male is 5'8. If that's the case (and I believe it to be true because at 5'11 I find I'm taller than almost all the guys I know; granted I don't socialise with rugby players!!) then OP, you have absolutely nothing to worry about.

I thought the average height for a male was 5 11. On the height charts for Irish kids 5 11 Is the 50th percentile.

    The charter specifically states:
