Hangover Cure?

    What is your hangover cure?

Another beer(or something stronger)? Fry? Last night's pizza?

Personally I like a freezing cold can of coke with a chicken fillet roll. Sorts me out (to a certain extent).

Pineapple and Grapes are the only thing that sorts me out after a night on the beer. Best hangover food ever.

Time travel my friend. Time travel. :pac:

Get hammered. Go back in time and tell yourself not to drink. Feel the hangover dissipate.

Usually I'll just down a few glasses of water before bed. Never fails. Nothing works after the fact for me, though.

Usually I'll just eat two slices of bread before bed the night before and then I wake up fresh as a daisy no matter how much I was drinking.

However, as I'm off carbs at the moment, I didn't have bread last night and am now dying. :(

Berocca is good for drinking before bed, after a hefty night. However, yuck. I would rather suffer the hangover.

I usually just cower in a corner and wait for the paranoia to pass. Will try the water, salt and sugar thing next time.

When i've a bad hangover, nothing generally can cure it other than a lot of sleep and some pain killers! Then by the evening time when I can stomach food, a take away generally kills the rest of the hangover :pac:

A can of coke is a must for me, and my latest thing is to deep fry waffles.
I have been known to court a portion of samosas and a 4 in 1..:pac:

if its a real bad hangover then only alcohol itself can take it away. Sip a pint of lager slowly and even though the first few mouthfuls is a killer it does work

if alcohol is not an option then its pint ice cold milk for me, always seem to do trick

I've found a large mug of sugary Tea followed by a hot shower fixes me right up. Inhaling all the steam in the shower clears my head in no time.

That's how I do it if I can relax for the day. Otherwise I just exercise when I wake up, this way I sweat the last of the alcohol out of me in a few minutes and have my body restocked with proper fluids; it's a killer to do but I feel so great after it

    Haul ass out of bed.
Before it truely sets in get in shower.
Fill bottle of water and go for a walk.
Keep walking until body starts to recover slowly.
Depending on severity eat something with more carbs than healthy.

    Plan b:

    Drink lots of water
    Surf.

    Get up groggy as fcuk.....

Put on a pair of shorts....Grab your board.

Get into ocean with said board and start surfing...... Hangover gone within 5 mins. FACT !

Back when I worked in Dunnes, 10 mins in the freezer at -21c always did the trick.

Now that I no longer have that option, plenty of water before bed and a good feed always does the trick.

Jumping/Walking - as close to naked as is permissable for wherever you are - nto the largest body of water in your general vicinity tends to do the trick for me.

More often than not this seems to be the sea down at Dollymount beach in Dublin - though I am sure it is debatable whether that means I am curing the hangover or simply infecting myself with something worse.

if i have the energy, (i usually don't) then exercise.
if not, cold can of coke, maybe two.. shower, shyt, loads of water, and a spicy spicy Indian, followed by a fog and a movie :) usually works, unless its the fear, in which case i stay in bed for hours and hours with the curtains closed

Lots and lots of water, carbs and a fry, if that fails, vomiting will sort it out!

Its pretty simple really... snooze and water.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 378 ✭✭cade

A pint of Orange Cordial and a Sweet Chilli and Mayonaise, Chicken Fillet roll; that was my saving combination today.

I found that Muller Rice works really well also last week. It settles the stomache nicely.

A bucket of tea and food that probably will do more harm than good. Also a shower and brushing your teeth!

Shower, dioralyte and alkaseltzer then go out and so something.

I find if you sit on your ass, the hangover is always worse.

My professional rugby player friend recommended their "official" cure a few years back, and it rocks.

Night before - two alka seltzer before you go to bed (I always did this anyway)

Morning after - two more alka seltzer, and a sachet of dioralyte in a bottle of blue Powerade.

Alpha Lipoic Acid(liver detox which is way stronger than Milk Thistle,it really works!) from the health shop,2 of these before bed with a Nurofen Plus, then another round in the morning.Usually does the trick for me.

I would KILL for a chicken fillet roll right now. Honestly :( It's the only thing that will make the pain go away!

I'm currently in Tokyo, teaching English. Been here two months, and last night myself and the boyfriend though it'd be a greeeeeat idea to just get drunk in the apartment. What we didn't take into account is that any of our usual hangover food cures either don't exist or are horrendously difficult to find here.

Only option right now is to go to McDonalds. Not my first choice, but better than the (usually delicious) Japanese food options! Looks like I won't be getting drunk for the next year..this is horrible. Really makes you realize how important those hangover cures are!

For me the only cure is about 72 hours. I've heard valium and xanax are good though.

Cornettos are the business for hangovers!:)

Prevention is better than cure. Drink as much water as you can before bed. In my case this is usually about two sips and then I go "F**k this" and go to bed and wake up dying anyway :p

+1 this, well the start of it anyway, what I think works for me (I don't do hangovers, so I'm not certian if this is the reason) is water, lots of water, generally my last pint or 2 in a pub will be water

ibuprofen before getting to bed. Avoid coffee the morning after. A pint glass with half water and half orange juice

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,128 ✭✭✭✭aaronjumper

I have found the almost bullet proof method of having a fry and having another beer. About 15 minutes later you wouldn't even think you had been drinking the night before.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 150 ✭✭Jason Fly

Somebody told me once to have an Alka-Seltzer before going to bed, and another one when you get up, but never tried
