Basically City win and they win their first league title since 1968

    TEAM NEWS

Cheick Tiote is fit to play despite having to be stretchered off on Wednesday night against Chelsea with a head injury that required stitches.
Newcastle defender Danny Simpson missed the match at Stamford Bridge and will face a late fitness test.

Manchester City's Joe Hart is having extensive treatment on a foot injury he sustained against Manchester United.
If Hart is passed fit, manager Roberto Mancini is likely to select the same XI that started Monday's win over United.

Odds: Newcastle 4/1, Draw 10/3, Man City 8/11

My Predication 3-1 to Man City

I think this will be a draw. Although the result on Monday was great for everyone bar Utd fans, i've been amazed by the reaction all week. It seems to be a general asssumption that City have won the league. I still think Utd will do it, but this obviously, is the match that will dictate the title's destination.

Massive incentive for both teams. Makes for an intriguing game. Very nervous about it. It's great that we're in the position we're in and still fighting for a potential Champions League place but I think the pressure is definitely on City to get a result.

Our fans will be well up for it. Last home game of the season and all that but the emphasis is on City for me. If we can get at them we'll hopefully scare them shítless and capitalise on nerves.

    1-1 draw for me though.

    EDIT:

I reckon this is how we'll line up. Depends on Simpsons fitness really.
    Krul

    Perch/Simpson --- Coloccini --- Williamson --- Santon

Ben Arfa --- Tiote --- Cabaye --- Jonas

    Cissé --- Ba

We'll hopefully still be buzzing from that win over Chelsea... Anything's possible I guess.

    Howay the lads.

Can't wait for this. A loss for Newcastle and that's surely top 4 out the window, a win and we're in some position. Saying that this is all or nothing for City and can see them really coming at us. Wigan played us off the park in the first half last saturday and that's a worry. Granted this is a home game, but it's hard to know what Newcastle will turn up. Would a Newcastle out of the running for top 4 and less pressure on them be a more dangerous animal? Will Arsenal's loss yesterday have a bearing- will it cause Newcatsle to choke under pressure?

Will be intriguing but either way I see it being 1-1 till about the 70 minute mark can see City pulling away from there.

    Prediction: 1-4

Not really- a draw today and it's not over, United can drop points at SoL.

IMO Newcastle will have to score relatively early and have something to hang onto going into the last 30 mins, because City will be Fresher as this is Newcastle's third game in 8 days, City's second.

I wonder how City will deal with the pressure of having to get the job done, the early stages could decide the title

I see at least two goals a piece here or none at all.

Yeah, that's a tough match for Utd, no doubt. But i think Utd will win their two remaining games so, imo, it's all about what City do.

Wigans football was astonishing that day! Doubt many teams woudl have fared better TBH! We do have a habit of getting trollied now and again, but rarely in such close proximity

City to get a nervy 1-0 victory.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Can't see past a City win sadly, hoping the CL motivation can drive City on but its a big ask and they have had a tough away day during the week too.

Hopefully a City win, and hopefully Spurs get beaten later too. Would still like to see Newcastle get CL football next season.

    City to win comfortably, 4-1.

Cisse to score, probably a bikey from the halfway line.

    Let's be avin' ye!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Goals in this game, big test for the NUFC defence.

We've got the better midfield though.

    I pray Barry starts :pac:

Ha Doocey I love your positivity!

But c'mon Barry was MOTM on Monday!

Thats the area Newcastle are fcuked because of, the defense, not good enough to contain City imo. Well matched in midfield and can cause anybody problems up front, but they wont be strong enough defensively.

I kind of don't want Newcastle to finish fourth and then miss out if Chelsea beat Bayern. It'd be much funnier if it happened to Arsenal or Spurs.

Mike Williamson could prove a recipe for disaster on a day like today unfortunately.

Newcastle have actually been solid for the most part, our goals conceded column is skewed by the odd hammering here and there

I would rather live in a world where Bayern win and Newcastle get 4th.

City to win by 2 or 3. Th wind is back beneath their sails the last few weeks. Momentum is everything. I just can't see City slipping up at this late stage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,979 ✭✭✭Vurnon San Benito

Williamson and the Toon back four have not conceded a goal at SJP for 426 minutes - interesting stat, probably be diminished today though.

Still remaining very optimistic, how can I anyone be a pessimist in NUFC's current form?

Tioté and Cabaye to have Barry & Touré in their back-pockets :pac:

    Another easy win for Newcastle.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

Lets hope for a quiet game from the ref, a dodgy call could cost either side millions!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 40,919 ✭✭✭✭Xavi6

If City score early it's going to be difficult for Newcastle, we just have so much on the break and Williamson is a weak link that could struggle with Tevez and Aguero.

If Newcastle score first then City won't win.

To the gods that be, let Newscastle win the first half and the second.

As much as I think City will win, 4/1 on Newcastle win is tempting of a hard earned fiver.

No Balotelli on the bench -

Pantilimon, Johnson, Kolarov, Dzeko, Milner, Richards, De Jong

I think this will end in a draw. 1--1 or 0--0. I think City will bottle it.
Man Utd will win the league.
It has been the worse League in donkey's years football-wise in my opinion.
My own team, Arsenal, were a disgrace yesterday.

I think last year was a lot lot worse footballing wise there have been so many sides playing much more attacking football this season then last season.

City drawing with the 5th place, in-form team, away from home could not be attributed as bottling it tbh.

If City win today, then they deserve to be champions.

I would actually hope they would not slip up against QPR as strange as that sounds.

I think if they win today, they will be deserving of the league imo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 328 ✭✭suspectdevice

city have a chance to win the league today. they know they have to take it. a draw will not be enough to hold off united

newcastle are now in a position to be third. they won't bottle. there is little pressure on them given the massive progress they have made.

demba ba and cisse to up their valuations by a couple of million each

there are prizes all over this for newcastle
