Does compensation exist in TSM?

    Hey everyone,

So, given the fact that failing one TSM exam means having to re-sit all of them in the given subject during the supplementals, is it still possible to pass by compensation in the annual exams? There just seems to be all these 'TSM codes of conduct', etc. that don't apply elsewhere so I'm just wondering if normal compensation rules still apply, just in case my luck runs out this week.

    Thanks!

Unfortunately TSM doesn't always have the same rules across the board, so this is difficult to answer!

I do two languages as TSM. We have to pass every language paper and the oral, but I think we can fail one literature/linguistics/coursework paper as long as the average is above 40. But if you fail one language paper, you're repeating (even if you miraculously still got a first overall!).

What are your two subjects? You should check your course handbooks, they usually have "Exam and Assessment Procedures" in them.

I'm just concerned with the department of Sociology. We have to take an economics, politics, and sociology module. Good grades in the latter two to compensate for an F1 in economics? So hard to figure out when it's so cross-faculty.

Some departments allow you to fail less than ten credits in a single subject without having to sit supplementals. So if your economics module is worth 5 you might be alright. Department handbook is your friend.
