Hi, I'm a big time lurker on this forum and I love reading this everyday.
Sorry in advance for long post.

I've only gotten back to exercise properly in the past 3 months due to a knee problem (ruptured my ACL 6 years ago, among other ligaments) and since i did a lot of 10km race runs last year, it flared up again and had to stop running. I then got lazy and stopped exercising completely.

Anyway, I've been doing a mixture of kettlebells, jogging, boxing and bootcamp 4 /5 times a week, but last night at bootcamp, I did my groin in. I am pretty fit and very strong for a female, my diet is good (admittedly only when I'm active) but if I have to take time off for injury (a) ill eat ****e (b) Ill get lazy again

Can anyone recommend excercise that I can do that won't aggravate my injury?

I intend on contining the boxing, as I can avoid the leg work, but perfecting technique doesn't really count as exercise. I love weights but am uncomfortable going into those gym areas with those horrible grunting triangular men with fat bellies and skinny legs.

Any alternative exercise suggestions would be great.

Well... it's a bit risky to suggest anything, given your injuries.
Make sure your diet remains good while you recover ;)

My knee injury isn't an issue anymore as long as I don't do too much road running. My current injury is just a mild tear In my groin, it'll heal! More looking for alternatiive exercise suggestions. I dont work well by myself, I need friends/classes/PT type things.

I have a minor groin injury at the moment. I'm new to running and it was more or less sore since I started running two-three months ago. As I'm increasing my distances, groin was getting more painful. So I went to physio, and I suggest you do too. She worked on it well ;) and gave me advice on stretches and strengthening areas I need to work on etc.
I was told to give the running a break so I've been doing a good bit of cycling and swimming. These haven't aggrevated my groin injury.

Assuming that a doctor or physio passed you fit for it would you consider crossfit?
Not too much running involved, great group atmosphere which helps keep you motivated and interested.
Im not sure how your knee is with squatting though? The bonus for you would also be that a good trainer will scale your workouts to avoid the injuries you're carrying at the moment.
This assumes as above that you would be passed fit for this...

    Thanks for the replies.

I did consider Crossfit, really like the idea and did go for a trial once years ago, but the class times didnt suit then as I didn't have a car.

I must look into it again, do many women do it?

Squatting is actually no problem for me, it's only high impact like repetitive road running or jumping down from a big height.

Thankfully my groin is improving, I think it occurred because I didn't warm up properly, but if not the physio will be visited.

Yeah, good ratio of women to men in most places I think, where I am there are a good few more men than women but theres enough women there to make it a mixed group if you know what I mean. Impressive to see the different strengths between the two as well especially when it comes to mobility, the great leveller :)
Sounds like it would be right up your street, I've been going a while now and can't recommend it highly enough, if your groin heals up theres a good few places around now that do it and a lot of others that do crossfit style stuff as well.
