Few 66's in the clubhouse,McIlroy back to defend,Tiger's swing looking manky again.

    Should be a good one.

Rory is not defending, he won in 2010. He missed the cut last year actually.

Oh right, feels like yesterday ;)

McIlroy not played an awful lot of golf yet this year, can't be in his groove yet, can he.?

I'm all for players not over doing it and keeping fresh but he's taken so much time off you would imagine he has some cobwebs to shake off. Might work though, hitting form fresh as a daisy at the peak of the season.

Geoff Ogilvy is the image of that bloke from Hollyoaks with his new moustache.

You all know who I mean so don't pretend you don't. All our moths make us watch it ;)

Looks to be getting there quick enough today. Hitting lots of greens and fairways.

One of my favourite stops on the PGA Tour. Hoping Rory can get in the mix come the weekend.

Making some nice Par saving putts anyway, good signs..

He has made a good start to his second round, -3 thorough 6 and -5 for the tournament. Ryan Moore leads on -10.

Free drop without finding your ball

    http://espn.go.com/golf/story/_/id/7890540/tiger-woods-gets-free-drop-wells-fargo-ball-disappears

Must try this one the next time I can't find my ball

Covered by rule 18-1 but I thought the ball still had to be found. It happened a playing partner before, ball hit to an area where we couldnt see but there was no danger of any kind. As we got closer, we saw two young lads sprint off and then out of the course. So, we obviously didnt find the ball and the guy just took a loss for that hole.
    18-1. By Outside Agency
If a ball at rest is moved by an outside agency, there is no penalty and the ball must be replaced.

Note: It is a question of fact whether a ball has been moved by an outside agency. In order to apply this Rule, it must be known or virtually certain that an outside agency has moved the ball. In the absence of such knowledge or certainty, the player must play the ball as it lies or, if the ball is not found, proceed under Rule 27-1

Lee Westwood may have the weekend off as well as Tiger.

Did Phil just break the nearest point of relief rule for relief from that drainage. NPR for a lefty was on the other side right?

2 birdie's at 15 and 17 see him thru to the weekend.

Reed who only qualified on Monday is having a squeaky bum time. He was cruising at -7 but now only -2.

Tiger did something similar on the thurs. took relief from a drain but appeared to still have his heals in the drain after he took his drop.

I thought to take relief you need to take full relief i.e no part can touch the item you are taking relief from

    McIlroy -2 after 2.

    Ogilvy -4 today after 9 so scorings out there. I predict a McIlroy 62 ;) (Currently 13/2)

Rory is -4 thru 7, weapon, his putter is on too. Can see him leading or within 1 by the 18th

Rory out with D.A Points second last group.

    Can see him doing it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 678 ✭✭✭Shifty Shellshock

Rory, whenever he tweets, always seem to be just a bit of a boaster. It all seems to be about me me me, in his case. Nothing interesting to say other than that he is defending champion, he has a hot girlfriend, and so on. Very shifty kinda guy. Don't really like him but think it's alright that he's putting Irish golf on the map every time he's around.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 259 ✭✭Borisss

    Agree that he's unlikable.

    Disagree that he's defending champ.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,943 ✭✭✭abouttobebanned

I'm worried that he's becoming a bit too distracted from the game, but I don't think he's unlikable at all.

And even though I think he's becoming a bit distracted from the game overall, I think that he's looking more focused on this particular tournament more than i've ever seen him. He shot JP a look after a poor club selection yesterday that I was happy to see. "WHAT WAS THAT?!".

His driving has been the key this week, he's been giving himself chance after chance. His putting has been okay. There's just more focus on it than other players cause he seems to have a good birdie chance at just about every hole.

Westwood out of the blocks even better than Rory yesterday -5 after 7..!!

Also Dyson really bottled it in Spain today.shocker of a bunker shot yesterday on 18 and just kept getting worse from there on in. Fair play to Molinari though, tidy player..

Edit: Going to have too listen to all the Westwood bull on sky now for the evening :(

All these players that rip up the course on Sunday when they're miles back. Ever notice it's all the players that usually brick it when they're in contention. Brendan De Jonge always does it, Fowler is fond of it too.

Its a lot easier to chase than it is to lead throughout and keep the lead
