Weight Training but can't take regular Protein Shakes

    Hey

I've just started back into weight training after a couple of years off due to health reasons. I am loving it.

I have a range of stomach issues, one means I cannot eat anything with yeast, gluten, sugar, fructose - really a lot of things. The good thing is my diet is pretty good for weight lifting (I think) - basically

Porridge / Tuna Salad / Natural Nuts / Brown Rice, Chicken Green Veg / Natural Nuts

That's what I have most days, maybe a few differences, e.g. Steak and Sweet Pots etc. All good things. But I am pretty skinny and was hoping to use protein shakes to put on weight. The problem being most contain things like Sugar, Fructose, Gluten. I took one last night and it didn't go down well.

Are there any suggestions on protein shakes or ways I can hit my protein and carb targets without having to eat every 30 minutes :)

    Thanks in advance

I'm pretty sure you can get Soya Protein or something like that, someone else might be able to direct you a bit better in regards to where to get it though.

Protein shakes won't help weight gain. THere's not enough kcals. More food, more food, more food :)

I think you must be talking about mass gainers, rather than "protein only" shakes. You can get protein with no added sugar or flavours, or flavoured stuff with sweeteners and no added sugar.

Many use the term "protein shake" to describe any supps, I remember somebody in work telling me their cousin was going hyper and not sleeping because of "protein shakes". Like I end up legless after drinking lemonade, neglecting to mention the bottle of rum mixed in with it :pac:

The nuts & rice pack a lot of calories, I would stir fry rice in coconut oil with cashews.

You don't need protein shakes or weight gainers to gain weight and add mascle mass. Sure its a much more convenient way to have a meal but all you have to do is eat lots and lots of food.

You can get protein supplements made from rice protein too.

Try eating loads of food :)
