Is there a difference between apps? Which one are best?

I've an iPhone and iPod if that helps.

Something with music would be great as I don't have much fast music that would be suitable.

Any music recommendation would be great also.

Another question... do it need tight tracksuit bottoms rather that the baggy ones to avoid falling/tripping?

The couch to 5k program is a pretty simple progressive schedule. The app just dispaly the weekly target. Don't pay for one. Download a about 3 and see which offer other features. If none do, keep the one that is easiest to use or prettiest.

You won't fall over if you run in tracksuit bottoms.

I thought they prompted you when to walk or run!

I've been using 5k runner on my iphone and found it pretty good. You can listen to your own music while it's running (which I like), it tells you when to walk and run and it lets you know when you're halfway through (which I find motivating!)

I mean that they are each based off the same workout structure, week 1, 2, 3 etc will be the same workouts in each.

There's a free one by zen labs that works fine.

I downloaded running mate couch 2 5K podcast for free. 8weeks in all plus extra ones for longer distances for when u complete the 8 week program. music provided which is handy ( as u stated u didn't have much of a selection ) it goes thought a 5 min warm up then tell you when to run/ walk gives u checkpoints at halfway stage and 10/5 mins remaining etc and then a warm down at the end.. Very handy IMO
