I would imagine a year later the majority of body shops would show you the door and blame weathering & wear and tear.

When you say flake is it stone chips or has the paint randomly started to lift

+1 even though there is no way this would happen to a job that was done properly, they will still insist it was done to a high standard.

How can they prove it? They don't have to, you have to prove that it was done badly. Therein lies your problem.

Tempted to buy one of these as a summer project :o Long term plan would be to shoe horn a 328 engine into it. There was a 323ti so the 6 pot definitely fits, none for sale here as far as I can see though.

Ok back to the books, you know its exam time when your planning an engine swap for a 3 series compact

I always hated the look of the E36 compact, but it's really grown on me over the last few years. Though most of them with the steelies and hubcaps probably didn't help.

Be warned on doing an engine swap on one of those, a guy I know in Cork did it and it turned into an electrical nightmare, cue days pouring over wiring diagrams and eventually they got it to start. Having said that, he has to turn on the ignition, wait for whatever module is looking for a signal to give up, and after about 20 seconds it fires up. Before that, it's immobilised, and not by the immobiliser ;)

Anyone have an NI address? I need to get a bumper delivered from the UK and shipping to the south is €200... I would collect it and buy you a bottle of wine / rum / whiskey / 5w30 for your troubles.

    Thanks
