btw, if you haven't gotten a reply, the club secretary responded to me, so you should be able to ask him for anything further you might need. Either a PM or stick it on to my post.

padjo5 tells me, that this race is "pan flat". If he's not telling porkies, I'd be
    interested.

    No porkies Eamo!

One of the organisers drove the route yesterday, flat as a pan-cake apparently! Think its the first year of the event, would be great to get a decent turnout....

It must not pass through Dunsany then?

I was speaking with our club secretary last night and it turns out he is helping organise this, if anyone has any questions i can pass them on.

I understand, that there is a separate race for A4s.
Please correct me, if I'm wrong!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,139 ✭✭✭buffalo

btw is CP a typo of GP, or is it a different sort of race?

edit: oooh, chase pursuit. Knew I saw it somewhere recently.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,460 ✭✭✭lennymc

    from one of the organisers:

    "A3/Jun race will be a separate race 4 x 17km laps 68km.The A4 race will be separate 3 x 17km laps 51km."

im trying to find out about the womens race.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,400 ✭✭✭Caroline_ie

Lenny - Here is my question :

The race was supposed to be run as part of the National League series, but it being the same day at the Celtic Chrono, the women commision decided to not run this race as a part national league series anymore.

Are the orgalisers still holding a separate race for women? Or will we have to enter as A4/A3.

A few clubs have asked me this.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,460 ✭✭✭lennymc

Ill try to find out for you Caroline.

Navan RC confirms: "Sign on is at 9am in Dunsany GAA, race starts at 11am. A3 race is 4 laps, A4 race run seperate is 3 laps." :)

Nice early start - I'm in

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,923 ✭✭✭wav1

The Dunsany GP is being run to facilitate the A3/A4 riders as theres nothing at the Elliott for them. Please support the event as theres plans to do it each yr if it goes well.It was the womans commission who decided to pull the womans race as it clashes with Celtic Chrono T T in Belfast.Sign on at Dunsany GAA Race starts at 11 sharp

No idea, but the Green Sheds course is around 17km. Could be that with a lead out.

Anyone know the sign on location yet ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,923 ✭✭✭wav1

Sign on location is Dunsany GAA Grounds from 9 30.Start at 11am.It is the green dhed circuit and at the end of the final lap of each race it will make a right turn from the circuit to finish at the church in Dunsany.Hope this helps and if theres anyone not racing that could give a hand on the day it would be appreciated.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,400 ✭✭✭Caroline_ie

here i guess is the sign on.
    And this is the finish.
This is the circuit (only the loop bit)

No disrespect but with the internet and all that, doing a bit of PR is not that hard. The organizing club should have done that themselves rather than letting people call them, email them or put threads on boards.

Seriously, we're a few days before the race and there is feck all info anywhere.

prizes for A4 race are trophies [as per cycling ireland regulations].All other prizes are cash.Prize fund will be determined by entries as there is no sponsor. This event is being promoted for the riders as there are no support events at the Shay Elliott for these categories.Ranking points will apply in accordance with cycling ireland rules.

Green sheds to be sure to be sure.
The first running of the Dunsany G P will take place on Sun May 13th in Dunsany Co Meath with the sign-on on at the local GAA complex. The event is for A3/A4/Juns/Woman. Sign on will open at 9 30am with the race start at 11 00am.

The circuit will be. what is usually called the 'Green Sheds lap circuit. The start and finish is in Dunsany. On the finishing lap of each race the riders will turn right from the circuit at Dunsany cross for an uphill finish outside the local church.

The A3/Jun race will cover 4 x laps to give a total of 68kms and the A4 race will cover 3 x laps to give a total of 51kms.

Only if they're close enough that you can still get a decent nights sleep and make sign on though.

Thinking of doing my first open race at this tomorrow. Am I right in saying I can just turn up and pay for a 1 day licence - I currently have a Club Competition licence?

I see you failed to take my advice. glad I stayed in bed. Congrats! now get the f out of a4 to a level you belong in :pac:

enjoyed that. there was a 7 man break that stayed away in the a4. Bit of wind, which was horrible and windy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 765 ✭✭✭oflahero

Yep, breakaway on the first lap, which I was lucky enough to be in. It grew out of an initial break by Mr Grieves & some Usher lads, and buffalo & I with others piled in quickly to make it 3 Orwell away. A couple of others joined soon after but fell away again.

Basically we nutted ourselves and stayed away, thanks to some particularly strong riding by Mr G, buffalo & a Mullingar man. I had to skip a couple of turns. But we stayed away, also thanks to some Trojan disruptive riding back in the bunch by joker77 and Philippe - so much props to them.

Before the final turn, there were magically 8 of us. I died once the sprint kicked off, and rolled over 7th out of the 8. I regret that my bad loser shouting over the line may not have set a good example to watching children.

Mr Grieves' first open race = Mr Grieves' first win. I believe... in Mr. Grie-eves.

First breakaway win in A4 this year - a positive development, rather than the negative 'soft-pedal, chase everything and wait for the sprint' style that's been prevalent so far this season.

"Balderdash and poppycock! Only a sirloin in Roly's could console me now!"

I'm sure that ,after they watch a few episodes of Downton Abbey, they will be shocked at your behaviour.
