    Just a heads up ........

Got this torch yesterday in Tesco €21.00 - it has a CREE LED and takes 2 D cell batteries which I can only assume due to the low power consumption will last for a lot of hours. Not too sure of the lumens it puts out as it doesnt say but had it out last night and have to say its unreal bright and more than bright enough for lamping with the HMR. Dont know how it would withstand knocks and falls though but seem heavy duty. Might come in useful to someone ;)

three cree is very good. I got one in Aldi last year and its very good. I use it for getting the fox in the field after he's shot and battery life is fantastic. Range of 150 yards and the beam can be adjusted for a wide or consecrated beam. It also strobes but no need for that option. I'm going to tesco now for some shopping will have a look. I think there are fantastic for the size of them

Hi !! How you been keeping ?? the torch in the pics has only the standard on/off switch - no strobe or focus beem function. Also Its a lot bigger than the normal AAA battery one - good thing is I'd say there is crazy long battery life out of them with the 2 D cell batteries. Picked it up in Tesco Oranmore ;)

Got one today and am just waiting for the D batteries to charge. Handy having the rechargeable ones ;)

I found 2 near dead ones lying in the press so I decided to put them in just to make sure it worked.
I knew they were near dead because they hadnt enough power even make the young lads remote control car go.

To my amazement there was shocking good light out of it
Shone it in the field out the back and it lit up sheep and lambs a good 130 yards away :eek::eek:

Cant wait to use it when the batteries have a full charge ! Definitely a great buy !

It shouldn't make a difference if the batterys are fully charged, with my led torch it just turns off suddenly when the battery runs out, it doesn't fade slowly like a regular lamp. Still though 130 yards sounds very decent

I thought that if the batteries werent the best then the light would be dimmer like other LED torches. I have the proper D batteries all charged up and all going well I'll get it out tonight for a few shots.

at 130 yards it lit up the spot enough to illuminate the lambs to such a level that I could count them individually with ease. Cant wait to get out with it for a few shots.

I looked in the camping/sports/outdoor isle first as thats where you'd obviously think you'd find it - no joy. I actually found it then in the isle with light bulbs in it down among the food section. All tesco stores mightnt stock them though. We have two outrageously sized 24/7 stores nearby, you'd get lost in them :p

Do ye reckon it would be possible to take fox at 150 meters with it?
At €21, reckon I'll go in anyway to get one.

Anyone have a chance to do a comparison with the led lensers?
Reckon that could be interesting if it is a good as ye report....

Id definitely say so. I have these fancy silver energizer rechargeable D batteries I got for €12 in argos and I charged them fully yesterday. Last night I had it out and I saw a fox clear as day that was out of range of the HMR so that would be a fair distance !!!! I would just recommend you get rechargeable batteries ;) Also it has a tight beam at long range which I like but mightn't be to everyones liking.

It has a very similar kill range as a p7, i tried the m7r, x7r ,p7 and the Tesco light around in the park just now and i would say it has the same distance visibility as a p7 , so about 21 euro is about right price wise.

Full moon tonight so it was fairly bright anyway.

Went for a walk with the dog tonight, no rifle, just the Tesco flashlight and because no rifle i came across charlie I picked out the eyes of the fox at 170 yards and could just about make him out at about 150. This light will have no prob picking out eyes well over 200 yards, I would find it ideal for scanning the field on a solo job and another scope mounted for the shot.

Chargers for D cells are hard enough to come by - cheers for that. tbh im just using the tesco value D cell batteries (2 battery's for €1.40) and they lasting ages.

Those torches prob go on half price offer in a couple of weeks - Ill be buying another one or two when they do just to have for the future;)

Was in tesco again today and was going to pick one up until i saw the size of them.
I taught they would be handy as a scope mounted torch but they are nearly double the length and thickness of a p7 so I didnt bother with them.
Its not exactly convenient to throw in your pocket either.
