The recording quality is pretty poor so it's hard to hear and see exactly what's going on. I didn't find the riff particularly interesting either.

There is nothing really awe inspiring about it IMO. Technique for the sake of it is not the way to go. The resulting sound is what matters. In this case, the resulting sound did nothing for me.
