Opinions lads and lass's, if you please. While everyone is drooling over the oneX, i'm going to make ye have a look backwards for a brief moment.

Would you pay £75.51 (€93 )for an archos 7 v2?

I know it's running eclair and i know it's a resistive screen but I don't care. I was looking at ebooks (which i've convinced myself that i need) earlier and most of them are more expensive than this. All I need is an ebook reader with a browser and sure i've a spare 16gb micro sd that i can lob into it for media while on my travels as well.

What am I overlooking here? Would you agree that this is a pretty good deal for a solid device that i'm not expecting the world from?

Resistive screen is a pain in the ....

If you need a proper ebook reader then get yourself a Kindle.

I have an ipad and there is no way it can replace my Kindle for ebooks reading.

But if you require a tablet with expandable memory slot then I would be certainly looking
    at something like this:

eBooks mean an eBook reader. You will ruin your eyes reading off a backlit screen. There is absolutely no comparison between reading a book off a Kindle and reading it on an iPad

Avoid resistive screens at all costs. I'm speaking from experience and wasted money

oooooh, capacitive screen for only an extra fiver on top of my original link, that might be the clincher - free delivery in UK too :D

i'm already reading my ebooks on a desire S (black screen white text) so the difference between ereader e-ink and a backlit screen isn't an issue for me

I did ask what I was overlooking. I lurve you guys.

I've bought from pixmania a few times with no issues, I'm aware of their rep but until they screw up one of my orders/I have to endure their returns process I'll refrain from bad mouthing them

Have you thought about maybe a 'Nook Simple Touch', an ebook reader from Barnes & Noble that runs on Android?

Very easy to 'reveal' (root) the original OS and install what you want.

A few UK sellers on ebay.ie now selling from the UK, the price is comparable to a Kindle, coming in about £79 sterling, excluding delivery.

    A review.

Post rooting and application use. You can install and use the Amazon Kindle application on the Nook, once the OS has been opened up by rooting.

Just an idea. I find the Nook very versatile. Micro SD card slot and with a tolerable screen delay for using most Android applications.

Just for your info, there are custom ROM's available for the device I linked above, from eBuyer........

    http://www.arctablet.com/blog/featured/arnova-7-g2-firmware-root-market-3g-ntfs-bluetooth-cifs/
This firmare brings root access to the device, Android Market, together with great additions such as CIFS (SMB/Windows shared drives), NTFS, ext4 , OpenVPN, Bluetooth on supported USB dongles, GPS support thru Bluetooth.

    So very interesting!!!
