    3.40 Beef To The Heels 14/1 PP(paying 1st 5 places)

Just feel this is too big on Beef To The Heels who recently got off the mark Beating Flying Light albeit on good ground. Should come on from the run.Has finished 2nd on soft ground to Maller Tree which means this ground shouldn't cause problems. 5 places PP 14's has to be taken imo

    4.20 Loch Ard 3/1

    4.55 Jetson 9/1

    5.30 Rubi Light 10/3

    6.05 Champagne Fever 11/4

    6.40 Carrigmartin 7/1

    7.15 Dancers Dilemma 5/1

Best of luck ft! Didn't really get to see much of today but will watch the replays. Tough race rubi light is in tomorrow and to be honest I think this race and tomorrows world hurdle will be the races of the festival.
I'm backing rubi light myself (love the horse to be fair) but I do think quel esprit will be there snouts and possibly captain Chris if he handles the ground. I've no fear of him getting the trip either considering he had sizing Europe easily by over 5ls at Gowran back in oct if I can recall only to fall at the last and russel to remount and finish 2nd :D anyway I hope he wins it he deserves a race of this stature for the consistent performances throughout the year.

In the bumper I can see summer star running a big race. The ground wont be an issue and I can't see ted walsh entering this horse in the race if he didnt think he had a chance. In the w/o CF market he can be got at 7-1. Fantastic price if u ask me and hopefully he will run!

That contest was over 2 and a half miles.

I would have serious reservations about the trip with Rubi Light. He clearly didn't see it out at Leopardstown.

Form that day didn't work out too bad in fairness.

He will have no excuses with ground tomorrow. Expect a big run.

The form of the race has no relevance to whether he stayed the trip or not.

Considering the amount Quel Esprit beat Roberto Goldback at Lopardstown I dont understand why one is 9/4 and the other is 16/1 when it looked like over a further trip he would reverse the form.

Roberto Goldback had this race in the bag when falling at the last fence last year aswell.
He seems to be inconsistent tho.

    Huntley,

You seem to be angry a lot. What's up with that? Bad run of betting?

Not overly looking forward to this really, which is a surprise, might be different in the morning :)

    3.40 Oscars Business
    Why not :pac:

    4.55 Ipsos Du Berlais
Double the price of Sous Le Cieux, has more than half a chance :)

    5.30 Noble Prince
I know, I know, the conditions shouldn't be an obstacle and at the price looks value, I'll be having a small bit e/w.

Just because there aren't loads of :):D and :pac: in a post wouldn't mean a chap is in bad form. You can also disagree with someone without being angry.

I'm not angry, I said that I would have reservations about Rubi Light staying the trip. I already gave my reasons as to why I have these reservations. If you are taking that as anger it isn't coming from my part.

I wouldn't say I have had a bad run of betting either, I log all my bets. http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056560001

    He finished 2nd.

Just because he finished 2nd does not mean he stayed the trip. A perfect example would be Grands Crus, a Grade 1 winner over 3 miles but he isn't a stayer in reality.

    Talking about Lexus Chase.

    Apologies.

I didn't think the horse stayed on very well after the last in the Lexus tbh.

Its the only form I have to go on.

I do know that he jumps well and will handle the ground.

Will be looking for something around 4's.

Turner Brown has an exceptional course record on soft/heavy ground. He is back down to below his last winning mark. With one of this trainers horses there is always the risk that today isn’t the day, and it’ll probably be obvious before the off if there is no money for him. But on my reading there is certainly a better than 25/1 chance that he might get backed and have a going day.

Thanks for pointing out that it was 2 and half and he came 3rd. that's what I get for relying on memory. For some reason I was sure it was 3m as I can remember giving out that de bromhead was STILL messing sizing Europe around with trips and because how easily rubi light had him I just thought it was 3m.

After that point I would have some reservations about the leop trip. Half the field though didn't get the trip that day either. In fairness I could just as easily see him getting the trip as much as quel esprit though considering his unimpressive beating of Roberto goldback and captain chris moments of madness this year. I do think it will be between these 3 and the ground will play a big part today

If you take Sychronised out of the Lexus, then you have Rubi Light plugging home to win from the ante post fav for this race Quito De La Roque. While stamina isn't his forte, I think it's been overstated a little, having seen Sychroniseds tremendous staying power and decent finishing speed in the Gold Cup. Quel Esprits form is nothing special. I can see Rubi light having this wrapped up 2 out, and possibly being legless finishing but still winning

I would have loved if Last Inatalment was in this race. I know he is injured put his jumping and love of soft ground would have made a mockery of this field.
    It's an extremely poor race

Ground has to have a cut in it, that's the problem. Remember watching him in Galway a few months ago in bottomless heavy ground and he cleared every jump by a mile everytime, magician of a horse. Looks the top gigginstown horse

If winds die down a bit as forecast racing should go ahead.

They have been very positive about it going ahead so far. I'm waiting on the announcement to hop in the car and go.

So I'm just having a look at this thread today, no interest really in making any contribution, TILL I SEE THIS GEM!!!!

Following the Lexus, regarding Rubi Light, I state "he clearly didnt stay the trip as well as russell and lynch said he would".
I remember you interjected, and I chose to ignore the comment, I mean how could I respond to such horse racing guru and not look stupid????

Your reply below, regarding Rubi Light:
    Huntey wrote: »
What makes you think that? He stayed alright he just wasn't good enough. His ideal trip is probably 2m 4f but that doesn't mean he didn't stay 3 miles.

If you read my post, you wouldn't have left that comment.
I'm not questioning his knowledge, this is nothing to do with his ability over anyone else's to pick winners.
It's do with his hypocrisy in this particular case and proves in a way that he's just having arguments for the sake of it.

For what it's worth I think his log is great, clearly has a good knowledge of racing and I appreciated the write ups that go into them.

Anyway, my advice, with my very limited ability to pick winners atm, would be stay clear of punchestown today.

Just wanted confirmation from Huntley whether or not Rubi Light stays 3 miles, sounds pretty much like a horse racing topic.

With all chase races being called today i'm only having one bet from todays remaining card Bridgets Pet
An improving run at fairyhouse on easter sunday when second to janari, while reversing the placings with lyreen legend from the race in thurles in soft to heavy conditions.

Opened at 9/1, has being backed into 9/2.

I can't quote you Stevo I'm on my phone.

In relation to Rubi Light, that was obviously my opinion of the race at the time and it wasn't for the sake of an argument.

Flexibility is key if you want to earn money in the long run. If I acknowledged my immediate opinion of every race I don't think I would pick half as many winners. It is far more productive from a betting aspect to re-watch the race and take account of all the variables from past form aswell. When I did this I came to the conclusion that Rubi Light didn't finish off his race well that day and I would have reservations about whether he is a stayer. I have certainly changed my opinions over the years of certain races and horses and Rubi Light won't be the last, nor will I apologise for it.

Was also supplemented for the race for 8k so must be showing something at home to warrant that. Ruby wasn't too bullish about Sous les Cieux on Atr there either so will happily take him on. Castle Wings won't mind the conditions either, 3m looks his trip and has been ultra consistent since his win at Limerick.
Reverse forecast bridgets pet and castle wings for me.

Gordon Elliot has a few runners in perth today, one running at the moment, one unseated earlier, 2 more this evening, I'll be of interest if theres any decent money for them, Cottage Oak and Sliver Lord.

Bridget's pet certainly is worth consideration today given the conditions when hacking up in Galway. I will be on rather than jetson for sure. The conditions here in punchestown are mental. Seems to be calming a little though. Not too disappointed with the postponing of the gold cup as it was a poor field anyway.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,340 ✭✭✭sting60

With conditions so bad I think best option is to keep your money in your pocket.Have backed operating in the bumper because it will go in the ground.A gelding wins Derby trial at Epsom.
