So we have had the awards for best premier league player, young player and premier league team of the season. What about the worst player of the season. For me it would be

Sebastien Bassong. Played for both Spurs and Wolves this season and did not try for either.

    Patrice Evra

*waits for people to be surprised that I've chosen such a blatently top class player*

Karl Henry, is he even a footballer? Just in there to break people up.

Kevin Doyle has had an absolutely shocking season for Wolves aswell.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,081 ✭✭✭ollie1

I was going to say Kevin Doyle as well he has been terrible this season.

    Andy Carroll
    Fernando Torres

Might have had a relatively bad season, but still not the worst player.

    And Wayne Hennesey? You serious?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,959 ✭✭✭Jesus Shaves

Actually you could put half the liverpool team up for nomination

Its very easy to say certain liverpool or united for example but the reality is the worst players for these or the other clubs in the top 8 are nowhere near the worst players at clubs like wolves, blackburn and the others.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 38,247 ✭✭✭✭Guy:Incognito

Much as I dislike Ciise, how is he in the poll? He's only played 5 games since joining QPR and scored 3 goals.

The question is really who has had the worst season, in that case, players at the top clubs who have had very bad seasons, by their own standards, should be included.

The likes of Evra etc have been pants compared to previous seasons.

    Not worst relative season ;)

The worst player in the premier league is probably one of the lads at the promoted teams who has been there for 10 years and plays for the reserves, but **** that, he's not really expected to be good at this level.

Really has to be Roger Johnson. His performances were so bad he got stripped of the captaincy and completely dropped from a poor Wolves defence. Had rows on and off the field with players and management, plus turned up for training drunk. He really has been dreadful this season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,500 ✭✭✭✭cson

Roger Johnson considering the reputation he arrived with and the fee Wolves paid [between £4m and £7m depending on your source].

From an Arsenal point of view its a toss up between Arshavin and Ramsey imo.

Ashley Young- should get a medal in London though...

Ya compared to his form for Wigan in the past few seasons he seems to have gone backwards this season

Ashley Cole should be on the list , as should Torres , The Bolton Keeper Bogdan, Heskey ?
Ramsey, Boswinga , Andy Carroll, jesus the list could go on and on

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 25,953 ✭✭✭✭kryogen

The nomination list could be huge.

Johnson for me personally, he has been brutal on and off the field for Wolves, serious let down.

Id nominate Alcaraz of Wigan. Seen Wigan a good few times and in almost every match he does something brainless. When you see how Wigan play and that they can score goals, it shows how poor their defence has been.

Went for Cisse, brought in in January and has more red cards than most players that have played a full season.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,832 ✭✭✭✭Blatter

Park Chu Young for Arsenal has been abysmal.

Our own Park deserves to be on the list as well, he's been brutal this season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,567 ✭✭✭✭fullstop

How the hell are Hennessy and Balotelli on that poll?

He hasn't - he's just played literally 10 minutes of EPL football. He was decent in the League Cup, when he actually played.

    Aaaannnd there it is!

I think Cole was never going to keep the level of last years standard up tbf, he was without doubt the best LB last year...

    Torres, maybe
Bogdan, no. He's been actually good. Stepping up to the plate after Jussi has been #1 for sooo long cannot be easy. While Bogdan has had his bad moments, like every other keeper, he has been far from the 'Worst player of the season'
Ramsey imo, had a decent start to the season. But has definitely had a bad end to the season. He was woeful against Chelsea
Bosingwa has been 2nd choice to Ivanovic for most of the season
    Carroll maybe

    Hi all original poster here. I started the thread for the worst player of this season. I should have maybe left the poll off but;

1.Vote for someone on the list if you like or pick someone yourself, dont just say why is so and so on it or not on it.

    2. You dont need to post up pictures of players.

    3. And you definetely dont need to turn it into Liverpool v United scrap all over again.

If it keeps going like this it the thread will no doubt be locked.

If you have an opnion about the worst player this season then by all means share it but please dont wreck the thread.

Can someone take Kevin Doyle off that list FFS.

When I saw him in the league cup, he was dreadful. When he came on against Milan in the CL, he was dreadful.

And I think the fact that Wenger has only given him 10 mins of PL football while giving the likes of Chamakh (who has also had a dreadful season) far more game time, is indicative of the fact that he's been terrible at Arsenal.

sold a few jerseys though! :)

I'd say he's still selling more Monaco jerseys, I doubt many realize that he now plays for Arsenal! :pac:

    the list is manky alright!

another few to consider may be Scott Dann, Paddy Kenny, N'Zogbia

I don't think you can class a player as the worst player of the season when they simply haven't played. As G.K. said, Park has had the grand total of 10mins EPL action thrown on against United. Chamakh has had 1 start and 8 sub appearances. Between the two of them they've hardly got 3 hours EPL football this season.

Worst signing of the year, certainly [though there's some pretty hot competition for that too] but I don't think either of them have had any chance to give enough evidence as labelling them abysmal.

You can't really look past Torres for me.

Andy Carroll was a terrible bit of business but nobody with even a shred of sanity was expecting 35m performances from him.
They were expecting 50m performances from Torres, or even something in that ballpark.

That's not to say Carroll is even playing well by his low standards but not worst player of the season.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 25,953 ✭✭✭✭kryogen

Its not about the worst signing though, and if it were neither Torres nor Carroll qualify anyway.

Absolutely not! Fully deserving of his place there. Earned meritoriously!

Torres is up there, but for me, its got to be Stuart Downing, he really is f*****g shite

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,752 ✭✭✭markesmith

Roger Johnson would get my vote. Woeful.

Dunno why Hennessy or Cisse are in here. Downing in here is a bit of a joke as well.
