Munster have named an extended squad for the game. Sky are covering the game but I'm not sure which channel yet, hopefully, it will attract a decent crowd but ko time doesn't really suit too many.
Ian Costello began his final preparations for Friday's British & Irish Cup final with a training session in Cork this morning and afterwards named an extended squad for the clash with Cross Keys (Musgrave Park 5.30pm
Munster Squad: Dave Kilcoyne, John Ryan, Stephen Archer, Peter Borlase, Christy Condon, Sean Henry, Denis Fogarty, Brian Hayes, Ian Nagle, Phil Donnellan, Billy Holland, Dave O'Callaghan, Barry O'Mahony, Brian O'Hara, Paddy Butler, Denis Hurley, Sean Scanlon, Ronan O'Mahony, Luke O'Dea, Danny Barnes, Tom Gleeson, Ivan Dineen, JJ Hanrahan, Scott Deasy, Declan Cusack, Cathal Sheridan, Duncan Williams

I dunno, part of me likes the romantic of a small Welsh club winning this comp. Obviously I want Munster to win, but it's a cool story for Cross Keys.

Yes but plenty of the sides, especially the english clubs, have played fairly 2nd string sides in the pool stages

    Munster Squad:
Dave Kilcoyne, John Ryan, Stephen Archer, Peter Borlase, Christy Condon, Sean Henry, Denis Fogarty,
Brian Hayes, Ian Nagle, Phil Donnellan, Billy Holland,
Dave O'Callaghan, Barry O'Mahony, Brian O'Hara, Paddy Butler,

Denis Hurley, Sean Scanlon, Ronan O'Mahony, Luke O'Dea,
Danny Barnes, Tom Gleeson, Ivan Dineen, JJ Hanrahan,

Pretty strong squad! A back three of Hurley, LOD and Scanlon would be good.

TRY-SCORING hero Kristian Baller insists that Cross Keys have got one more British and Irish Cup upset left in them.
The winger raced over for two tries in the thrilling 20-16 win against Cornish Pirates and was only denied a hat trick by a tremendous last-ditch tackle.
The 25-year-old, who signed last summer from Pontypridd, has been one of the catalysts of Keys’ tremendous treble-chasing season.
He took his try tally for the season up to 16 against the Cornishmen and now has Munster A in his sights.
“This is what dreams are made of,” he said. “It doesn’t get much bigger than going to take on Munster on their own patch.

Munster team announced. Waiting on fitness of LOD.
    Costello Names His Final Side
    24 April 2012, 10:16 pm
    By Pat Geraghty

Munster's British & Irish coach Ian Costello makes just four changes, one of those positional, from the side that defeated Leinster in the semi-final, for Friday's title decider at Musgrave Park (5.30pm).He has however left one other position to be finalised as he waits to see if Luke O'Dea, scorer of a cracking try in that RDS semi, is fit enough to make the starting line.
Up front Costello opts for the experience of Stephen Archer over John Ryan in the front row while a return to fitness sees Dave O'Callaghan preferred to Barry O'Mahony who is named on the bench.

The halves remain the same but Ivan Dineen gets moved from the wing to inside centre at the expense of JJ Hanrahan while Denis Hurley comes in to the left wing berth occupied by Dineen so ably in the semi-final.

Ten of the starting XV were involved in the inaugural British & Irish Cup final when Munster were beaten 23-14 by Cornish Pirates.

    Munster: S Scanlon; AN Other, D Barnes, I Dineen, D Hurley; S Deasy, D Williams; D Kilcoyne, S Henry, S Archer; B Hayes, I Nagle; B Holland capt, D O'Callaghan, P Butler. Replacements: D Fogarty, J Ryan, B O'Mahony, B O'Hara, G Hurley, D Cusack, JJ Hanrahan.

Decent side, although Hanrahan should feel unlucky. Hopefully LOD is fit, the guy is on fire.

Am I right in thinking that Scanlon is playing fullback and Hurley is on the wing? If so, I would have preferred them swapped.

    Borlase is gone now surely?

Strange having both Hanrahan and Cusack on the bench as they both cover 10/12. I presume O'Mahony will come in for O'Dea if he isn't fit to play.

Hurley is a far better 15 then wing but Scanlon has been their starting 15 all season and one of their best players to boot. Would be a kick in the stones for him to be shifted for the final. He's on a full time contract next season so hopefull we see more of him in the Pro12.

    Sky sports 2

    Thanks!

I'm looking forward to this a lot. I hope guys like Scanlon and Kilcoyne can do more in proving themselves able for the step up to the main team.

Who even cares about the Heineken Cup, the B&I Cup is where all the real action is! :pac:

Good play from Deasy there to send Scanlon away. Williams isn't great so far, two gormless box kicks.

    6-3 Cross Keys.

2nd time in 3 minutes that Butler has lost possession

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,456 ✭✭✭Cpt_Blackbeard

Just to make the unconventional backrow makeup even worse, Butler is scrummaging at 7 and DOC2.0 is at 8.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 967 ✭✭✭Anatidaephobia

Good from DoC2 after Cross Keys made a balls of the restart.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

Nice work from Williams but then ruins it with an awful offload

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 967 ✭✭✭Anatidaephobia

More from DoC2 there! Williams made a good break there, but a poor pass at the end to give away possession.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,456 ✭✭✭Cpt_Blackbeard

Hurley try with a nice move of an attacking scrum.

Edit: Apparently no try due to obstruction.

    Hurley try in the corner!

    EDIT: Feck, obstruction.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

Hurley try, Scanlon with the assist, with acres of space in front of him

    Edit: not given

Clear taking out of a defender by Dineen, correct call

Cross Keys doing well so far, being directed by Tovey.

    Tovey pen: 6-9

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 967 ✭✭✭Anatidaephobia

    Tovey penalty 9 - 6.

    Some stupid mistakes here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 967 ✭✭✭Anatidaephobia

Great take from restart by the Cross Keys number 5, but he knocks it on at the end.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

    miss from deasy

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 967 ✭✭✭Anatidaephobia

    Deasy just missed a penalty.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

Scanlon has been impressive, DOC2.0 has been immense too.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 967 ✭✭✭Anatidaephobia

Up and under from Deasy that Scanlon takes beautifully.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,902 ✭✭✭budhabob
